The food was delicious. All our guests loved everything. The vegetarians and kids also had great choices. Hire them for you next party and you won’t regret it!
Even with what seemed to be a full house and a smaller staff, the food and tea arrived quickly (I think under 15 minutes for me) and was displayed beautifully. I ordered the Winter Spice tea and thoroughly enjoyed the soothing mix of fruit and all spices which perfectly suited the cool, fall morning. All of the finger foods were simply amazing too! Each had the perfect balance of flavors and textures, the fruits and vegetables tasted fresh, and the desserts were not too sweet which I appreciated.
How each table had a different table set-up—different table cloths, dish shapes and designs, and flowers—created a homey yet elegant atmosphere that I’d definitely like to return to in the future!
Positives: the team was gracious about a fluctuating number of guests, accommodated a relatively late booking, accommodated allergens, and service the day of was smooth. The space was cute, maybe a bit tired as others have said, but it was sweet and we were happy with it. And I thought the food was yummy! Overall, the space, service, and food amount to be a bargain. Negatives: Adel was pretty unresponsive by email but seemed very positive/casual about the event so I tried not to worry too much. However, the venue was double booked on the day of our event so as I was setting up for my shower, a group walked in believing they had reserved space for 10 for a tea party for little girls. This was exceedingly stressful for everyone involved, and the poor staff on site couldn’t contact Adel to sort out what they were supposed to do. Fortunately, the smaller group was incredibly gracious and ceded the space because I had booked the whole venue and apparently they had my name/info for the reservation, not theirs, but I felt horrific about it and it meant set up was slow and stressful and we weren’t ready when guests arrived. In addition, our headcount was 31 (technically too large for the venue but Adel said it was fine, which was very kind) but the staff had only been prepped to expect 14 (those with allergies). Again, the on site staff stepped in and saved the day and the food was tasty so I think my guests were happy enough. But this whole thing could easily have been a big yikes if the on site staff weren’t so competent, professional, and flexible. They get a 5/5, hands down!
I’m not sure how to avoid this situation in the future, but I suppose my advice is to confirm and reconfirm everything by email several times? My event was successful, but I’m very mindful that someone else’s wasn’t, and that’s sad and unfair and I am sorry for it.
Here’s what I can recall from the menu, top to bottom as seen in the picture. This was a tray for two of us and we got one each of the following from top two trays. Top tray: chocolate raspberry truffle, fruit tart. Middle tray: blueberry scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream, lemon square, pistachio shortbread. The bottom tray is for sandwiches. We each got 4 mini sandwiches and you can choose the vegetarian ones or the regular ones. I got the vegetarian which, to the best of my recollection, were: cucumber sandwich, deviled egg sandwich, roasted red pepper sandwich, goat cheese and fig. The bread on the mini sandwiches was really good too.
In conclusion, highly recommend this place! Make reservations though!
The Vintage Tea and Cake Company hosts our yearly Teachers Tea and came out this past week and transformed our library in the most beautiful way. It is one of the most cherished annual events for our teachers and staff!
