On 18 Jan 2026 around 945am, my wife and I looked this restaurant up due to them serving breakfast. When we went inside, they said sit wherever you like. Being 20 something degrees outside my wife did t want to sit by the door so we walked to the left to sit ourselves. Upon picking a sit a hispanic woman wearing a burgundy sweater or jacket was really rude and told us we could t sit there.and kind tried ordering us to sit somewhere else. Remember this is our first time ever coming to this restaurant. She was very rude and rubbed us the wrong way. Now there were several tables open at the time. So we moved to another table where a young who looked like a teenager cat to the table and was short with us so I then asked to speak with the manager and he then said no one is here. So I asked if at least supervisor or anything was availbel to speak and he then hesitated and then said the I could talk to him. So we got up and left. As a military veteran I dont ever think I have encountered such a unwelciming feeling in a restaurant. I think it goes without saying we won’t return.

The best restaurant in Oakland, it’s not even close. Great food, better small town service. The Macho Nachos and the Birria Tacos are our favorites, you can’t go wrong with them! Cheap beer and great people, make this place 5 stars all day. Support your local small business here and you won’t be disappointed I promise.

This is a great find for Oakland dining! We had lunch here. The Torte Mexicans sandwich is wonderful with fries. They serve chips & salsa with a nice mild salsa or you can request spicier ones. It has a retro diner vibe with red enamel tables and vinyl chairs. We enjoyed our meal very much.

Surprisingly good. Shrimp tacos, street style and chicken wings for us tonight. Tuesday nights are also a hot rod car cruise in so there’s outside and inside food. Seems like a family operation and the service was great. Done in a apparently a lot of take out as well. I will be back for more.
Edit: made it back for Breakfast and was really pleased nice Ommellette and French toast.

Service is impeccable , food is good and it is family friendly.
Prices are very reasonable and fair. Most Mexican places around this area over charge for Margaritas, not at Green Cactus, the prices are what they should be.

Nice little breakfast spot, the food was really good, bread and waffles were fluffy, bacon wasn’t overly greasy, the eggs with chorizo were just right. The service was great, the servers are attentive and checking in consistently. Definitely recommend trying this spot for breakfast!

We may have found our new Mexican place in Oakland! The food was delicious and fresh. They didn’t have to drown everything in cheese. The rice was fluffy, not dry. The sauces tasted homemade. The service was excellent. Not sure if the decor was leftover from the previous restaurant, but it has a cool retro feel. Best of all, the prices were reasonable. Also, it was my birthday, so they gave me a slice of delicious strawberry cake. We will definitely be back!
