I’m not being dramatic when I tell you this is the best meal my boyfriend and I have ever shared. First of all, I have to shoutout our amazing server, Kieran, who walked us through the entire coursed menu, made us feel very welcome, and even learned our names (which felt very personal and above and beyond a normal dining experience). We were there on Christmas eve so we enjoyed the 4 course meal they offered and everything was genuinely so delicious! My boyfriend said it was the best deviled egg he’s ever had (high praise from a deviled egg lover) and the complimentary focaccia bread with whipped butter blew my mind with its flavours. We ordered a bottle of wine to share throughout the meal and then Kieran even offered us a complimentary glass (or two) and I could immediately see his wine sommelier credentials at work (it paired splendidly with our meal, really complimenting it). We both had the striploin which was cooked to perfection and the layered golden potato was also highly notable. Finally, we ended the meal with a Yule log dessert and my only concern is that no Yule log I’m going to eat in the future will ever be that delicious again. They also sent us home with a little ‘thank you’ which were mini house made Christmas cakes! So was the night expensive? Yes, of course. But was it worth it? Absolutely!! If you want to bring your family or loved one out for a special night at the Jasper Fairmont Hotel, this is where I’d send you! And if you do go, make sure to say hi to Kieran for us!! ❤️

My wife and I chose Orso Trattoria to start off her birthday celebration on September 12, and it was an excellent choice. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt inviting, with a classic, elegant décor that combines traditional charm with the capacity to comfortably host both intimate meals and larger groups, such as tour parties.

We were warmly welcomed by our server, Rodelita, whose service truly stood out. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made thoughtful suggestions to ensure we had the best start to our day. With her guidance, we decided on the breakfast buffet, which turned out to be a highlight of our visit.

The buffet offered an impressive variety of fresh, high-quality dishes — far too many to list in full. I especially enjoyed the bacon and cheese eggs, which were perfectly prepared, while my wife sampled several other options and was equally delighted. Everything we tried was flavorful, beautifully presented, and made with care.

Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience that made my wife’s birthday morning even more special. Between the excellent food, warm service, and welcoming atmosphere, Orso Trattoria is well worth a visit whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a memorable breakfast in Jasper.

We came for dinner and it was beyond wonderful. We usually don’t eat at “fancy” restaurants, but this one was well-worth it. We did not have a reservation and sat at the lower round tables near the front. If you don’t mind eating on a lower table, the spot is great! To start, We had AMAZING service from the bartender. We forgot his name – but he was from Costa Rica! He provided service beyond what was expected- checking in on us and providing the best focaccia and truffle butter I’ve ever had, while also chatting to us about traveling and going out of his way to provide recommendations! It was incredibly kind of him to pause and chat with us to make sure we could
plan the best trip!! We never felt rushed to leave, and the food was INCREDIBLE. We both got the 3-course meal and it might’ve been the best food I’ve ever had. Well worth the price! We had previously paid $120 for a 3-course meal in Banff which was not nearly as good as this. We ordered the short rib and seared scallops as our appetizer, which was so tasty. The sauce alone was to die for. But what really stole the show was our entrees. I received the fish and I genuinely have not had better white fish. It melted in my mouth each bite and the skin had the perfect crunch. The sauce was also incredible. You MUST get this dish if you come. My boyfriend got the Lamb Papperdelle which was just as good. Everything paired so well together and it was such a delicious meal. We would definitely come back and eat here again! Thank you to our server for making the night as well!!

We visited Orso Trattoria and found the experience quite mixed. There were many empty tables, yet we still had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. The steak was good, but it took around 20 minutes to arrive. I was also surprised that the scallop dish only came with three pieces which isn’t even enough to share between two people, especially at a price of $38.

What disappointed me the most was the service attitude. I’ve been to many Fairmont locations, so I can tell when staff are genuinely attentive. ONE server (I don’t want to mention his name but hope he can see it )spent a long time chatting with other guests, yet barely acknowledged us. I don’t think we were difficult customers, so this treatment felt quite unexpected.

Orso Trattoria at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge delivered an outstanding celebration dinner after a perfect day on the slopes. The atmosphere is warm and elegant, and the mountain views through the windows make the whole experience feel special before the food even arrives.

We ordered the 3‑course special and every dish was exceptional. The scallops were perfectly seared, the citrus & truffle salad was bright and beautifully balanced, and both mains — the Pesca La Cambotta and the Beef Tagliata — were cooked flawlessly. The kids devoured their spaghetti with zero hesitation, which says everything.

Dessert was the perfect finish: delicious, thoughtful, and beautifully presented. From start to finish, the service, the food, and the setting made this a memorable evening. Highly recommend Orso for anyone looking for a standout dining experience in Jasper.

Oh my goodness! We just had a memorable evening at this very special dining room at Jasper Park Lodge. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. Our server was Christina and she was patient , attentive, and knowledgeable. First class all the way. The food was delightful from the Scallops to the Chicken Saltimbocca, to the Lamb Pappardelle. All was scrumptious and flavorful and presented artistically. Topping it off was a yummy Tiramisu and it must be mentioned that the view of the mountains is stunning.

We were staying at the lodge as part of a Rocky Mountaineer Raily tour. We had breakfast in the morning, and this was our first (and only) dinner hear. The dinner room looks out over Lake Beauvert which is stunning.

We had reservations for 4, and were seated right away. It took a while for our server to get to our table, greet us, and get serve waters. Our server was professional and efficient, but definitely not friendly. We had a 3 course meal as part of our package and there were plenty of interesting starters and entrees. It took some more time, before the server returned and took our orders. As a matter of fact, it took nearly 2.5 hours for the entire meal. Turns out that our server kept getting distracted in conversation by another table next to ours. He was totally oblivious to the other tables around.

Our table ordered a collection of varied entrees, lamb chops (for me), a rissoto dish, scallops, and bison steak. During our wait we were served some olives and crostini with a spread, and focaccia bread. The crostinis were not fresh and tasted as if they had been sitting in a too cold refrigerator.

After another wait, the food did arrive. My lamb chops were amazing. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the vegetable bake was good as well. The scallops got good reviews. However the Bison was undercooked, and tough. The risotto was bland and soupy.

After finishing our entrees, it took 30 minutes for the server to return (chatting it up again with another table). It was getting seriously ridiculous. Asked the server to bring our desserts (which was included in our 3 courses). My Tomato and Raspberry dessert was very interesting, and good (a little chili powder in the chocolate pudding).

Asked for the check for the cocktails. Mentioned to the server the long wait, and he apologized and blamed it on the busy dining room, but I felt compelled to point out his chattiness with other tables.

After the rest of my party left, I hung back and asked to speak to the manager. He explained that while they have just recently opened, there was no excuse for what had happened to us. Offered to pay for our drinks (which I declined).

I hope they are able to get their act together. A beautiful, upscale place like this needs to do better.

We had breakfast at Orso Trattoria and really enjoyed it! The Salmon & Avocado Toast was fresh and flavorful, and the Omelet (we picked goat cheese, bell pepper, and mushroom) was spot on — filling but not too heavy. We also loved the Beauvert green juice and a strong cappuccino to kick off the morning.

Everything tasted great and felt healthy, but heads up: the potato wedges that came with both dishes were super salty. Wish there was an option to swap them for fruit or veggies instead.

The ambiance is relaxed and upscale with a beautiful view, and the staff were friendly and quick to seat us. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but hey — it’s a resort, and it kind of comes with the territory.

Would definitely go back (and maybe just skip the potatoes next time).
