Reviews
We were warmly welcomed by our server, Rodelita, whose service truly stood out. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made thoughtful suggestions to ensure we had the best start to our day. With her guidance, we decided on the breakfast buffet, which turned out to be a highlight of our visit.
The buffet offered an impressive variety of fresh, high-quality dishes — far too many to list in full. I especially enjoyed the bacon and cheese eggs, which were perfectly prepared, while my wife sampled several other options and was equally delighted. Everything we tried was flavorful, beautifully presented, and made with care.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience that made my wife’s birthday morning even more special. Between the excellent food, warm service, and welcoming atmosphere, Orso Trattoria is well worth a visit whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a memorable breakfast in Jasper.
plan the best trip!! We never felt rushed to leave, and the food was INCREDIBLE. We both got the 3-course meal and it might’ve been the best food I’ve ever had. Well worth the price! We had previously paid $120 for a 3-course meal in Banff which was not nearly as good as this. We ordered the short rib and seared scallops as our appetizer, which was so tasty. The sauce alone was to die for. But what really stole the show was our entrees. I received the fish and I genuinely have not had better white fish. It melted in my mouth each bite and the skin had the perfect crunch. The sauce was also incredible. You MUST get this dish if you come. My boyfriend got the Lamb Papperdelle which was just as good. Everything paired so well together and it was such a delicious meal. We would definitely come back and eat here again! Thank you to our server for making the night as well!!
What disappointed me the most was the service attitude. I’ve been to many Fairmont locations, so I can tell when staff are genuinely attentive. ONE server (I don’t want to mention his name but hope he can see it )spent a long time chatting with other guests, yet barely acknowledged us. I don’t think we were difficult customers, so this treatment felt quite unexpected.
We ordered the 3‑course special and every dish was exceptional. The scallops were perfectly seared, the citrus & truffle salad was bright and beautifully balanced, and both mains — the Pesca La Cambotta and the Beef Tagliata — were cooked flawlessly. The kids devoured their spaghetti with zero hesitation, which says everything.
Dessert was the perfect finish: delicious, thoughtful, and beautifully presented. From start to finish, the service, the food, and the setting made this a memorable evening. Highly recommend Orso for anyone looking for a standout dining experience in Jasper.
We had reservations for 4, and were seated right away. It took a while for our server to get to our table, greet us, and get serve waters. Our server was professional and efficient, but definitely not friendly. We had a 3 course meal as part of our package and there were plenty of interesting starters and entrees. It took some more time, before the server returned and took our orders. As a matter of fact, it took nearly 2.5 hours for the entire meal. Turns out that our server kept getting distracted in conversation by another table next to ours. He was totally oblivious to the other tables around.
Our table ordered a collection of varied entrees, lamb chops (for me), a rissoto dish, scallops, and bison steak. During our wait we were served some olives and crostini with a spread, and focaccia bread. The crostinis were not fresh and tasted as if they had been sitting in a too cold refrigerator.
After another wait, the food did arrive. My lamb chops were amazing. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the vegetable bake was good as well. The scallops got good reviews. However the Bison was undercooked, and tough. The risotto was bland and soupy.
After finishing our entrees, it took 30 minutes for the server to return (chatting it up again with another table). It was getting seriously ridiculous. Asked the server to bring our desserts (which was included in our 3 courses). My Tomato and Raspberry dessert was very interesting, and good (a little chili powder in the chocolate pudding).
Asked for the check for the cocktails. Mentioned to the server the long wait, and he apologized and blamed it on the busy dining room, but I felt compelled to point out his chattiness with other tables.
After the rest of my party left, I hung back and asked to speak to the manager. He explained that while they have just recently opened, there was no excuse for what had happened to us. Offered to pay for our drinks (which I declined).
I hope they are able to get their act together. A beautiful, upscale place like this needs to do better.
Everything tasted great and felt healthy, but heads up: the potato wedges that came with both dishes were super salty. Wish there was an option to swap them for fruit or veggies instead.
The ambiance is relaxed and upscale with a beautiful view, and the staff were friendly and quick to seat us. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but hey — it’s a resort, and it kind of comes with the territory.
Would definitely go back (and maybe just skip the potatoes next time).
