Now the food was just as impressive. The mortadella egg and cheese was a memorable breakfast sandwich that I will be going back for time and time again. The crepes were delicious as well. I would definitely recommend ordering a sandwich and split an order of crepes if you can
Wunderbar Coffee & Crepes is an excellent addition to Bellevue’s #SmallBusiness offerings & open for #Brunch during the week/weekends
It was really nice to see that the business owners had a #PRIDE menu through June, and incorporated #Inclusion into their merch ️ They have an awesome seating space outside too!
– Coffee was very nice
– Crepes are large
– Staff is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seems to love being there
Points of improvement:
– $16 is way way way too expensive for any crepe. I see the rebuttals being made in comments on the other reviews and I appreciate that you’re using high quality, locally sourced ingredients but $16 for a crepe is wild. I’m a huge fan of Geppetto Cafe in Lawrenceville, to the point where I sometimes will Doordash it. Fees and all, Geppetto is still less expensive and so much tastier. Honestly I would suggest making the crepes half as big and half as expensive. I don’t know that $16 crepes in Bellevue is the move.
– I had the chicken pesto crepe, which was literally just chicken, pesto, and huge chunks of mozz cheese. The pesto was clean-your-sinuses level overpowering and the whole thing was begging for some cooked onions or something to break it up. I was hungry and ate it but if I’m being honest, I didn’t really enjoy it. Entirely too much pesto and nothing else really going on.
– I also tried the berries n’ cream crepe. This was better but still felt ham-fisted to me. Crepes should be light and delicate. This was thick and heavy. Berries were fresh, the cream was sweet, but it was just…heavy.
All in all, I might stop in for a coffee but I can’t recommend a crepe. I’d like to try a breakfast sandwich but they are similarly priced to the crepes and I just can’t justify it. I understand the business is new (to Bellevue, not in general as they’ve been in Harmony forever) so hopefully they will be able to work out the kinks in pricing and quality as time goes on. I love to see new businesses in Bellevue and was excited for them to open, but unfortunately I did not leave inspired to return. Please take this as constructive criticism as I absolutely want the business to thrive. Just understand that most people are going to have the same first experience I did, not come back again, but also not leave a review. It is better to be aware than be blindsided.
I ordered one of the February special drinks: a mocha with strawberry, amaretto, and lots of whipped cream with little heart sprinkles. My gosh, I went to heaven.
My friends recommended the crepes, grilled cheese, and soups. I opted for the portobello mushroom savory crepe. It came out with two eggs on top and a delicious sauce. (Maybe hollandaise?)
It wa so delicious, no wonder my townie friends go almost every weekend.
10/10 recommend!
