The staff was super friendly and fun. Had a lovely time! The food was delicious with a big variety on the menu. Definitely try the hand-battered onion rings, chicken tenders and mountain burgers. The tenders were large with a crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Really hit the spot after a long day of hiking to nearby waterfalls!

Coming from the Seneca area, the drive up to this cafe is a nice change from the traffic in town. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is relaxed and extremely casual, we felt right at home.
My gripes are that unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. I ordered a club sandwich and they forgot all the veggies and even condiments, not to mention, the sandwich was on cold toast. My mom ordered their clam chowder and it was room temperature at best. They didn’t have lemon for her seafood plate either and had she known, she would have ordered something else. Lastly, all of our fries were cold.
With 4 entrees and 4 desserts, our bill came to $100. In my opinion, that’s extremely overpriced for a sandwich, 2 burgers and a dinner plate especially considering the quality.
All in all, given the atmosphere and staff, we would come back but probably ask the server to make sure our food was actually hot.
Edit per owner response: I was off $10 because I was including the tip. My review still stands and given their attempt at invalidating my review, I’ll be sure to share my opinion of them with others.

Had a late lunch here. Tried the burgers with onion rings. Burger was a fresh patty. Onion rings were big. This is a local spot with good cooking and friendly service. This was our first time but it felt like we were family. Can’t wait to try the BBQ and maybe sit on the front porch

We eat here a couple times a month and usually really enjoy it. But last weekend we asked for fried chicken and the young waitress told us they were out of chicken. The next 3 people that came in got fried chicken. We “settled” for chicken livers that were overcooked and tasted spoiled. Less than an hour later I got severely sick for the next 36 hrs. Was diagnosed with food poisoning. We will not be back. Oh and someone needs to educate the young waitress on what white meat and dark meat chicken is.

Mountain Rest Cafe is a friendly spot with a family type atmosphere. They have great burgers for a quick lunch and tasty combos for a “supper” that’s just a little bit more. Try the clam strips. They have just the right crunch but not over done. There’s also some hand dip ice cream for the kiddos!
