What a unique experience. We were greeted by the owner and the rest of the staff like we were family. Even if it rains, you are in a covered building and they close the sides down. It does get cold here in the evenings so dress accordingly or at least bring layers. It was recommended to bring a blanket to sit on… picnic benches can get a little hard and cold as the evening goes on. They have wood burning stoves… glad we grabbed a seat next to one.

A real gem in the Taos/Red River area—I can’t imagine ever going to the mountains of northern New Mexico without an evening of food and entertainment at Bobcat Pass Wilderness Adventures’ Moreno Valley Cowboy Evenings!
This was our 2nd visit in 6 years. In 2017, we had so much fun, I vowed we would have to come back again. We finally made it back in the summer of 2023, and we were not disappointed at all! It’s really great fun!
The Cowboy Dinner is excellent, made outdoors right in front of you. It’s a hearty meal with your choice of grilled ribeye steak, cooked to order, or chicken, baked potato, cowboy beans, delicious honey-glazed dutch-oven biscuits, & corn-on-the cob. They have lots of cold drinks available, but I couldn’t wait to get my paws wrapped around a big tin cup of their delicious cowboy “campfire” coffee! And they top it all off with “to-die-for” ho’made cinnamon rolls—SOooo Good!!
Throughout dinner time, you’ll be entertained by one of New Mexico’s favorite cowboy sons, Syd Masters, and his band of western mountain musicians. Syd is a real champion for New Mexico, it’s western heritage and the “Cowboy Way of Life”! He’s a very talented singer, songwriter and musician. You’ll hear many of his original songs, along with your favorite cowboy ballads. He’s very funny and engages the whole crowd!
Be sure to come early to visit the Lewis Mercantile shop (and watch swarms of hummingbirds outside), try your hand with a lariat, or play a game of horseshoes.

Authentic cowboy cooking and cowboy music in a rustic setting. The steaks were fantastic, loved the cowboy beans too. Although I don’t listen to country and western music, I enjoyed these cowboy songs about the trail, horses and sweethearts. Highly recommend this if you’re near Red River or Angel Fire.

We had a great time over Labor Day weekend. Syd Master and Mike Hern music was very good, and food was excellent. Highly recommended.

Food was a big let down. Steaks were flavorless and tough, even cooked to medium rare. Potatoes were under cooked. Corn and cinnamon rolls were great. Biscuits were mediocre. Syd Masters is a gifted musician. I just hope you like the Marty Robbins/Bob Wills style of music. We also went to see the Michael Martin Murphey show and enjoyed it much more. Looks like they share a bass player between the two.

We had to wait in a SLOW line to check in. By the time we got to the line there were only 8 in front of us. Took 45 minutes! When I called and reserved, the guy told me they would charge my card 2 days ahead of the date. Not sure why he said that when you had to check in and pay.
The ribeye was flavorless but tender. The cinnamon rolls were fantastic. The rest was good but nothing special.
The entertainment was good.
