The food was amazing- my medium rare steak was cooked to perfection! The owner Kevin came to our table and asked how we liked the food and service. Also, he appreciates veterans and gives a thank you discount! Please support this really cool place where every bulldawg can find a steak!!

Firstly the staff cordial and friendly. If you are curious as to where all the help went for other establishments look no further. Everyone was attentive, upbeat and eager to please. From the owners to the cooks it feels like exactly what it’s envisioned as: a passion project shared by a tight group. Which leads to the food…
I had a burger, my wife a steak and fried pickles between us. The pickles were fried perfectly. Crispy and tangy. It was served with a a dill based ranch which I didn’t particularly like in pairing. Go with the superior “Rick’s Sauce.” My burger was fantastic and my wife’s steak, a NY steak, was exceptionally flavorful for the price point.
Lastly the local landmark that is the Just South building. Massive space even with only part of the original building being used currently. Having seen the inside some years earlier the renovation is just short of miraculous from its previous state.
All in all Just South is just right. It has high ceilings, higher expectations and seemingly room to grow. It will become a local favorite or a regional sensation if quality is maintained. Highly recommended.

Have eaten here several times since they gave opened and it never disappoints!! From gator tail to the Big Dawg Steak everything has been delicious!!! I highly recommend making Just South of Athens your weekend taste bud shocker!! I love the random food specials and can’t wait for more!! Great spot to watch GA play as well.

Well….I wasn’t too impressed. They need a lot of improvement. While the menu has a variety of options, I wouldn’t necessarily call the place a steak house because there isn’t a lot of steak options. Sure there is a ribeye sandwich and a steak Burrito but only two steak options. They do have an interesting variety including frog legs and quail. My ribeye sandwich was ok and the Burrito was fine but nothing to write home about. The side salad needs a little more. Only has cheese and tomato. I recommend adding at the very least onion and croutons to actually call it a salad. The customer behind us ordered the hibachi but said it was too salty to eat and left their meal. I saw a kitchen helper in the dining area watching tv a lot (A LOT). Which might be part of the problem. I’m going to assume staffing issues but at some point you have to take control of your business and make necessary changes. I’ll give them another try later down the road because I like to be fair and it may have just been a bad day/ week. Hopefully by then improvement will be made.

Before heading home we had to try a old friends new restaurant hands down the BEST fried green tomatoes, they are a MUST! Asparagus was cooked to perfection! The fried quail was amazing as well! Gator tail was perfect as well as the dip! And of course the steak was great! Kevin Brigman keep doing big things! Love friends succeeding! It was great seeing you! We finally got to try Just South of Athens last night and it did not disappoint!!
We started off with Bulldawg bites and then all had a ribeye—each perfectly cooked as requested and with mouthwatering seasoning! I’ve never heard my FIL say something in a restaurant was perfect but he said it twice while eating that delicious steak! Don’t even get me started on that Mac n Cheese!!
We finished the night with a brownie a la mode…shew lawd!! Delicious!!
If you haven’t been to Just South of Athens—get on over to Jesup and try them out! Your taste buds will thank you!! And if you’re a local and get to enjoy it often, my tastebuds are jealous!! I

My husband and I decided to treat my mom to a birthday dinner. We wanted to take her somewhere great where the cost of the food matched its quality. Found this restaurant on Google maps and we were NOT disappointed! It is casual dining, however the food and staff were phenomenal! Our waitress was Cassandra and she was amazing!! Also, the menu was hilarious!

Our dinner was wonderful. Amber was a great waitress with an awesome smile. We got the Bulldawg Bites and she added a cup of caramel along with the marinara. It was divine. It made them taste like a funnel cake. That should be a permanent change to the menu.
My wife got the steak and was able to cut it with a butter knife. It was great tasting as well.

What a great experience! My family and I were looking for a place nearby where we could get a meal to celebrate a family occasion. Google came through. What a gem. The food was absolutely fantastic. The fried pickles, steaks and chicken fingers were unbelievable. The meal was just one aspect of the entire experience. The staff was attentive and the owner, Kevin, was warm, engaging, and absolutely focused on providing the best dining experience. Love this place! It is a must. No matter where you are, make the time to stop by and check it out.
