This by far has been the best Barbacoa we’ve had In Yrs… You won’t just be disappointed. Staff family owned business very kind, polite, friendly thorough expedited Togo orders, Which there were many of. We sat we had our tacos in our soda. The salsa pico de gallo was good too. Again, you won’t be disappointed..
So glad that Our regular place to eat Barbacoa was closed today, lol

The Barbacoa I bought was the all meat 1 pound with an avocado. I paid a total of $22.00 even . The Barbacoa was descent and the flavor was pretty good . Not to salty but not bland either. Only thing in my opinion and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think the Barbacoa got dried out on them and they just tried to get it moist again. All in all if I can’t find BBQ like Today cause Magy’s was closed cause they were on vacation I would go back again to Pepes.

Due to local OG’s falling off left me looking for a new spot. If you feel the same way, look no further. The crew at Pepe’s will get you right! Their barbacoa is out of this world!

It is always a pleasure to visit Pepe’s #4 ~ been visiting and picking up my Barbacoa here for at least the last 10 years ~ They have always been friendly and the All Meat Barbacoa has always been flavorful and the tortillas, so good. I get the corn, about 95% of the time. You can also get your Big Red plus avocados, salsa, and tamales here. My only recommendation is ~ do not go to late in the morning, if you do trying calling and placing an order. This place is known and so all their offerings are not always available due to demand. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do ~

I craved some good barbacoa tacos, and could not find any good places in my area so I found Pepe’s off Google maps and they were rated very good I decided to try them out and I’m very happy I did!! It’s worth the drive and they were definitely worth it! They are off 410 & Bandera, it’s not noticeable you have to really pay attention or you might pass it. Its family owned and we were greeted by the nicest couple who welcomed us and handed us some stickers and business cards. The best customer service, Even gave us great suggestions and told us about every 1st of the Sunday they have the best SMOKED barbacoa, which I’m excited to come back & try! I love how they provided everything for you like avocados, big red and fresh Pico del Gallo, I didn’t have to stop at HEB. the barbacoa was on point, moist, tender, and flavorful! Lol don’t judge me but this girl can eat, I ended up eating 6 tacos! Thank you again! I will be back.

Delicious, all meat, barbacoa that is flavored well. Very nice couple who welcome you when you arrive and the aroma when you go inside whets the appetite! They only accept cash. Next time will try the pork tamales. Reasonable prices. Check them out if you enjoy barbacoa.

Haven’t found a better barbacoa yet. This tiny place pumps out the best I’ve ever had. It’s full of flavor. No need to add salt. Can’t comment on the other items but the guy behind me in line said the smoked barbacoa is fire but only available the first weekend of every month.
Read this place came in 3rd awhile back in a barbacoa competition so I’m definitely curious about 1st and 2nd because for me, you’d be hard pressed to beat this place.

If you are looking for the best barbacoa in San Antonio, it’s served at the rather modest-looking Pepe’s #4 on Bandera on the first Sunday of each month. It’s their smoked barbacoa, although their regular and chunky are fantastic as well. Two things – first off, call the day before to make a reservation. Don’t depend that they’ll have it cause it sells out early. Second – they are cash only, so come prepared.
A lot of places claim to be the best in San Antonio. And we do have some great places. But anyone claiming to be the “best” would have to stand up to the smoked at Pepe’s #4 and they will likely be found wanting.
5/5 – worth traveling 30+ miles out of the way to give it a try. You need to try this.

Saturdays are for Barbacoa! For a little hole on the wall barbacoa & tamale place, this review earns a 5! The tamales and meat were amazingly delicious. One of my biggest fears is getting a lot of fat, so I typically get my barbacoa craving at HEB which I can always count on being lean. However, the barbacoa at Pepe’s Barbacoa was truly delicious tasting and lean, my two requirements. Their tamales are nice and thin not all bulky like some places. They serve only pork tamales, but I highly recommend them. They are delicious. They sell pico de gallo, salsa, and tortillas as well. The only thing I didn’t like is how the salsa is not spicy. I kept adding some, but I couldn’t achieve the strong kick I like. If you don’t like spicy salsa, this one will work just fine because it is good just not great! I’m a big salsa person. I know how good salsa tastes. The salsa makes the food not the other way around in my opinion. The owners were sweet. They let me take a picture of them. They were cordial and welcoming!

It was worth the driving to Pepe’s Barbacoa from Poteet to Bandera Rd. Being so many Barbacoa places near Poteet I decided to try the smoked Barbacoa and was so delicious that I will definitely drive back to get more next month. Will make sure I’ll let family and friends about Pepe’s Barbacoa on bandera rd. I will definitely recommend Pepe’s Barbacoa. Service was friendly, fast and accurate.
