I ordered the Country H Double in a Big H Combo with French Fries and a Frosty Mug of Root Beer. I also ordered an Oreo Shake. The bun makes the burger for me, and it’s definitely a fresh patty. The bacon is worth the extra cost for me. Both fries and onion rings are good, but I like the fries better. However, I’d get a shake over fries if you’re watching the budget. The root beer is delicious and the frosted mug ups the delivery. I love the shakes, especially the Oreo shake. Tons of Oreo and great consistency.

Our server was awesome! I didn’t catch her name, but she gave helpful recommendations and provided excellent service from start to finish. I enjoy the classic diner atmosphere of Hires Big H.

If you’re parking in the Ballpark West lot, you’re in the wrong spot. There’s a lot across the street from Hires, and you won’t have to walk a 5K just to get here.

This is a Utah original, and I enjoy their burgers, fries (and fry sauce), and root beer. It’s a pricey restaurant, definitely pricier than the satisfaction it provides, but it’s a fresh burger, solid buns, and a good experience overall. I’d eat here again.

A MUST-VISIT!
Hires Big H absolutely blew us away! The chicken tenders were immaculate—soft, white meat with zero weird bits and perfectly cooked. The chili cheese fries hit that ideal balance of warm, savory, and cheesy comfort. And the root beer float? Massive, refreshing, and the perfect sweetness. Total showstopper.
My kids loved their shakes, which were generously sized and full of flavor without that overly sugary taste you get at other places.
But the real surprise star of the menu is the Grilled Chicken Supreme. I know it’s a burger restaurant, but trust me—this lemony, juicy, flavor-packed grilled chicken club is the BEST thing they serve. I’d choose it over the burgers any day. Their chicken noodle soup was also so delicious!

Overall, Hires Big H is a big win for families and a place we’ll keep coming back to!

This past week my beloved wife and I went to Hires and got the Valentine’s Special that was advertised on their Instagram page. Overall it was a fairly good experience, but I have few things to say.

I’m a big fan of the A&W root beer they serve, but the Instagram page said the Valentine’s Special was suppose to come with 2 LARGE drinks and we only got mediums. Also, when I asked for a refill our waitress refilled my medium cup with a pitcher of flat root beer. There was absolutely no carbonation whatsoever. Not that big of a deal, but it’s the little things that added up.

The instagram page made it sound like we would get a brownie sunday topped with hot fudge, but that’s not what they brought out. After we enquired, our waitress told us the Instagram ad was WRONG and, according to her boss, the Valentine’s Special actually comes with just a regular vanilla sunday and no brownie. Talk about FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! They definitely gave us more than enough ice cream because there was at least 6 large scoops of vanilla topped with whipped cream and pink sprinkles.

In addition to the sunday we got 2 Big Hires cheeseburgers and a medium cheese fry with a cute heart tooth pick. We absolutely loved the cheeseburgers! The cheese fry was not too bad either.

Overall it was a fine experience. The Valentine’s Special was a fairly good deal being just over 32 dollars, but we left feeling somewhat mislead. I’m not upset with Hires, I’m just disappointed. I hope this review will influence the Hires Big H establishment to actually prepare and present their food as advertised.

This place is so cute! Everything was matching and just made me feel like I was in an older diner. I got the frosted root beer and LOVED it. First time I’ve seen that. I will say I wish fry sauce was included but it’s not a big deal. Definitely come visit! Also very friendly to solo dinners.

I’m seeing a lot of 1-star reviews here. I don’t get it! Food was fantastic! Root beer in frosted mug was excellent. And our server was incredibly friendly and attentive.

We visited Hires a few weeks ago and had a fine experience. Not the case tonight. Don’t come during peak hours. We got sat and then waited about 10 minutes for our order to be taken. That was the last we saw of that server. Drinks were delivered by someone else and then food was brought by a third. Perhaps she changed sections and we were forgotten? No refills, had to chase someone down to pay. I also witnessed several people having to go to the kitchen doors to ask for drink refills so it wasn’t just our table. Cheese fries came out so over cooked that the cheese was baked on and crunchy.

First Hires Big H visit and it didn’t disappoint!

I got a small of their famous Root Beer, and Grilled Chicken Salad that came with a side of garlic bread. The root beer was delicious, the salad was fresh and flavorful, and the garlic bread was also tasty.

Service was friendly and quick and the prices of the food are very reasonable. All around I had an enjoyable time! Looking forward to my next visit.

Tonight, we had the best service from Milette (P.M.). She was so patient and kind with our rowdy kids. When we were packing up our son’s food, we accidentally dropped it on the floor, and he was so upset. Milette went out of her way to have the cooks make us a new burger, and the cooks even heard how upset he was and wrote him a sweet note on the package of his burger. This was not expected at all, especially since it was our fault for dropping his plate of food. Thank you for your kindness and delicious meal. We sure love Hires Big H!

I’m a big fan of Hires, even though I haven’t been there for a while. I was excited to eat at their new location before a concert at America First Square. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

Even though there is an entrance to the Square, it was blocked because of the concert, so you have to walk around to what looks like the back of the building. But jokes on you, cause that’s the front, where the hostesses and cash registers are.

My Big H Burger was tasty, but it seemed like it was all bun, no meat. Seriously, the burger party was almost slider-sized. The onion rings looked done, but the onion was completely raw. Clearly, the oil temp was way too high, resulting in raw onions. Not good at all. And nobody stopped to ask how the food was, because the dropped the check with the food.

Oh, and the frosted mug of root beer sweat (which they tend to do), but they didn’t give any napkins until they brought my food, and even then, my “napkin” was a paper towel folded into quarters.

And a small burger, 7 raw onions rings, and a small mug of root beer was $20, before tip. And then because you pay at the tiny entrance, I had to shuffle around patrons waiting for a seat, because the are you walk in is a very tiny area.

Oh, and the decor is bland, and the space is not only oddly shaped, but awfully noisy. The other patrons weren’t particularly loud, but everything echos.

Had a great experience. Food came quickly and was accurate and delicious. Our server, Jeff, was just the right amount of attentive to be there when we needed but not overwhelm us. Atmosphere had a great vibe. Although the new location is much further from my house than the old location, I liked it better overall. Worth the drive.
