The Veggie Combo was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Every item on the platter had its own unique taste and spice profile from the rich lentils to the perfectly seasoned vegetables. The injera was fresh, soft, and paired perfectly with everything. You can really tell the ingredients are high quality and prepared with care.

The space felt comfortable and inviting, and the bathroom was impressively clean! The firfir was especially tasty & well-seasoned without being overwhelming. Overall, a great spot if you’re looking for flavorful food and a pleasant dining experience.

Food was excellent and authentic. Great prices and huge portion sizes. Decorations were nice and staff were very attentive. Only complaint is that the DJ started playing very loud music around 10:00pm when I was here on a Saturday night, making it difficult to talk to my friends. In the future I hope they turn it down a little.

We spent over two hours, which went by as smoothly and warmly as one could hope to share a family meal. We always felt attended to, never rushed, and enjoyed every bite. The current iteration of the restaurant offers both Ethiopian and Indian traditions. The dishes all had a melange of flavors that integrated quite well, but were also fresh and articulate in their own right–no dish tasted like any other. It was clear that the meats were quality cuts and the vegetables were well chosen and full of flavor. This is not trying to be a “fancy” restaurant, just a very welcoming and comfortable place to take in a wide variety of delicious flavors !

We were craving Ethiopian food coming out of AFI and Selam was right around the corner. I’m so glad we found it because the food and hospitality were outstanding! Everything was absolutely delicious. The hostess, owner, and even the chef herself came out to greet us and made us feel most welcome. This is my new favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Silver Spring and I look forward to returning!
