Thirty minutes later she looks at me and says, “I thought the food was ready?” Turns out she thought I said, “Do you want a bowl?” — as in, a bowl of food since I was cooking.
After a good laugh, she said she was still down to go but needed a little time to get ready. No problem — I hopped on The Loft’s website and easily modified our reservation to include an hour of bowling followed by a lounge table. The plan: bowl first, then unwind with a few drinks.
The bowling lanes were great — clean, modern, and fun. Afterward, we headed over to the lounge, ordered a few drinks, truffle fries, and their funnel cake dessert (basically funnel cake fries with Nutella on the side). The food was solid, drinks were well made, and the overall vibe was relaxed…
Until the music hit.
Out of nowhere, the volume was cranked up so loud you couldn’t even hear the person next to you. The waitstaff had to lean in just to take orders, and we were practically shouting to talk.
It’s a great venue for a date night, friends, or family — stylish, fun, and with good food — but I really wish more places realized that not everyone wants a concert-level sound system during dinner. Sometimes, people just want to talk.
I was genuinely blown away by the renovations the space looks beautiful and I was so excited to celebrate my birthday here with my family. We celebrated my dad’s 50th before the renovation and had such a great experience, so I had high expectations walking in.
Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to that memory. When we sat down, our water glasses were dirty, and our waitress never came back to check on us, so I didn’t get the chance to ask for a clean one. The food was okay, the pizza felt more like low-quality bar food, which is fine, but it didn’t really match the upscale vibe of the new space. On the positive side, the chips and dip and the steak eggrolls were excellent.
After eating, we headed to our reserved bowling lane, and that’s where things went downhill. Halfway through our game, my dad went to the bar for another round and was asked if we would switch lanes so a large birthday party could take both of ours and the one next to us. We were already settled in against the wall with no one next to us and happily playing, so being asked to move mid-game was frustrating. What made it more confusing was that after moving us to the middle, there were two empty lanes left open on the other side for the remainder of our time. It seemed like there could have been a better solution that didn’t require disrupting our reservation.
Once relocated, the large party was placed directly next to us, leaving little room for our drinks and snacks as their group filled the surrounding tables. There were also several young children in the party who were understandably loud and upset at times, but in such a small space it felt overwhelming and took away from the experience. Given the more upscale atmosphere, this may not be the best environment for young kids, or there may need to be clearer guidelines so all guests can enjoy their time comfortably.
To their credit, after my dad spoke up about the situation, they did give us a round of drinks on the house, which we appreciated. Still, it would have been nice if the issue had been handled proactively rather than reactively.
Overall, the space has so much potential, but the service and organization, especially around lane management, really need to be tightened up. I hope the staff can figure out a smoother system, because it truly could be a great place with a few operational improvements.
The food was fantastic, the vibes were on point, and Mikayla’s service was elite — friendly, attentive, and somehow always there right before we realized we needed something. Truly the kind of service that makes you tip extra and reconsider all past dining experiences.
10/10. Great food, great atmosphere, and Mikayla absolutely crushed it. We’ll be back.
