Decided to stop in for dinner… great choice! We enjoyed every dish ordered. The passion fruit juice was yummy too. We had the papa la huancaina, ceviche carretillero, chicharron mixto & lomo salteado… delicious! Was worth the 45 min drive, will definitely be back. Dessert pictured tres Leches and alfajor w icecream.

So glad to have El Batán Restaurant in Newton!
It brings some much-needed international flair to our little town. The atmosphere is laid back, plenty of seating, and the staff is super friendly and attentive.
Food Highlights: The Starter: They bring out crunchy roasted corn with sauces instead of chips. I loved this—great texture and didn’t fill me up too much before dinner! Appetizer: The Crispy Cauliflower was lightly fried and absolutely delicious. Tacu Marisquero: My favorite. Rich brown sauce with scallops, shrimp, and squid. Tacu Pollo: A cool Asian twist with a soy-oyster sauce that reminded me of teriyaki.
Both entrees came with a delicious rice & beans mix (tacu-tacu seasoning). Not overly fancy, but the food was a hit and the service was spot-on. I will definitely be back!

I was really excited to try this restaurant when I heard they were moving since their last location had so many great reviews. The restaurant itself is well decorated and has a nice atmosphere. I was seated pretty quickly (I was dining alone) but I’m not sure the waitress was informed that I was seated in her section as it took about 15 minutes to be asked what I wanted to drink/any apps and she seemed to be surprised I was there. She was amazing the rest of the night, very nice and attentive. I was seated in a somewhat awkward location as well, it was a single bar seat in the middle of a walkway and I did have another customer come up thinking I was a staff member. It took another 40 minutes for my food to come out and it was cooked perfectly but was incredibly bland and a smaller serving than I expected. The side of chalaquita was great and made the dish certainly better. I just wish there was more of it. The fried Peruvian corn is the same fried corn that is served when you’re seated, I had been expecting something like an elote or esquites but honestly that was my bad for not checking. The yucca fries were cooked well but were served with very little sauce, probably about an ounce or less for 6 fries in the app. Overall, a pretty disappointing experience and I left still somewhat hungry and not quite satisfied but tired of waiting. I’m not sure if it was just because it was opening week and the kitchen was still getting the hang of things but I’m not sure I’m inspired to return.

El Batan in Newton is a breath of fresh air compared to many of the newer restaurants in the area. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and attentive. Our food came out quickly, was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the overall experience felt smooth and well-run. It’s refreshing to find a place that gets both service and food right. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending it to others.

I’m so proud of this restaurant’s growth. I have been a reoccurring customer since they were located at the Olivers Landing Clubhouse. The food? Nothing like it. I personally love the Linguine a lo Macho and it’s perfect E-V-E-R-Y-T-I-M-E. That’s hard to do. I recently visited their new location in Newton and it was like visiting family. Our favorite waitress was there, who makes the perfect peach martini, and the food continued to wow. I cannot recommend this restaurant and i hope they continue to succeed. They deserve it!

Had a great dinner last night! Very friendly & accommodating servers who went above our expectations, serving our group of eight upstairs. Very nice drinkwear & tableware, which I value. Everyone loved their meals, kids portions were large. Would recommend!

So glad to have a restaurant with some variety and is open on Sunday!! The food was incredible! We each had something very different, each dish happened to come with rice and the rice perfectly complimented each individual dish. One was buttery, another citrusy, and another savory. There was no cutting corners when it came to quality of the food and drinks. Even my daughter’s “kids meal” was actual chicken diced and breaded. Prices were reasonable considering you are getting quality seafood or steak. We hope to see tables on the patio come springtime for refreshing drinks outdoors.

We were promptly greeted and sat, our server was very helpful and knowledgeable with choosing our meal since it was our first experience eating Peruvian. Atmosphere was good, hoping they will have some outdoor seating in nice weather. Food arrived at the table incredibly quick and hot. Serving size was robust, flavor was top notch and my filet was cooked to perfection. Server checked in on us refilling and assuring meal was prepared correctly and to our standard. Pricing was very fair including cocktails that were well balanced. We have plans to return before the weeks end and bringing freinds.
