Top tier sushi spot! A real hidden gem. Lots of sushi and omakasi places are getting rave reviews in Nashville and I’ve been to nearly all of them. The composed nigiri bites here can absolutely compete with some of the bites at places like Kase and for way less. If you are in the area and want some great sushi don’t skip this place. Now, it’s not going to match the atmosphere and unfortunately they don’t have sake or cocktails. They do have my favorite Japanese beer Asahi Super Dry though so that’s nice. Simple and fancy rolls are also offered and were delicious but be sure to ask about the specials and go for the composed bites especially the salmon and tuna belly as well as the scallop which just melts like butter. Staff is very knowledgeable and sitting at the counter watching everyone work is a real pleasure. Absolutely worth the price point.

I’m so glad Google Maps brought me here! We had such a great experience. The food was DELICIOUS, tasted so fresh, and the staff were so kind.

They offered customization, which many sushi places don’t, and as a picky eater it made my night to be able to tweak or add things.

The wagyu composed was INSANE and the seared scallop nigiri just delicious. The 615 roll was another standout. So much flavor in everything we had, they are geniuses with taste here. Can’t wait to come back and try more.

Honestly the best sushi I’ve had in all of Nashville! And the sushi chef is an absolute sweet heart!! You can tell how much love he puts into every dish and roll. Seriously. Every roll is very well made and so so beautiful and flavorful….and FRESH. We will definitely return again.

Definitely check out the OG roll and yellowtail jalapeño, Wagyu composed and spicy tuna crispy rice. The miso soup is also incredible!!!

10000% recommend.

We dined in today and had a great experience! The restaurant wasn’t busy and the server was very friendly and gave many recommendations. I ended up getting the pork ramen which was very good for a sushi focused restaurant. We also had the fried gyoza which was delicious and of course some more crunchy shrimp rolls.

The restaurant feels very clean and has a nice chill vibe with tasteful music. All the staff were friendly and respectful. I’m so glad to have such a nice local sushi place!

I was in desperate need of a simple crunchy shrimp roll and this place had that covered. The crunchy crab roll and caterpillar roll were also delicious. The restaurant had a really cool atmosphere and I will definitely be back soon to try some fancier options!

This is one of the best Shushi restaurant ever!! There is love and care in every dish. Definitely 10 stars from me. The restaurant is very clean and organized. The service, owners, and staff are very friendly and make you feel like family. The food is superb. Everything that you would expect and more from authentic and original to the owners twist and fusion on creative flavors. I recommend the Rainbow Poke which is my favorite. The WaguYou want regret this stop and will continue to return

Surprisingly some of the highest quality sushi I’ve had in the Nashville area. The bluefin tuna nigiri was incredible. Samurai roll lived up to the hype of being moderately spicy but not over the top. The server was very knowledgeable about sushi. Don’t let the humble appearances or strip mall location fool you. I love fine dining and I recommend this place for sushi.

Ikura provides not just a feast for the body but for the eyes. The sushi chefs craft every bite and every bite is delicious. Melanie, our server, has never steered us wrong in her suggestions and has made us feel welcomed. I cannot recommend this wonderful gem highly enough.

I stumbled onto a serious little-known treasure sitting right under my nose in an area of town that I frequent. Full disclosure, I don’t usually trust sushi in Middle Tennessee south of 36°N latitude. Two reputable locations of Nashville’s heralded Eastern Peak lie just above that latitude and make fabulous sushi. But mediocre sushi joints populate Williamson County below that line, a place known for great food but not in this particular genre. And south of Franklin, it all falls apart.

So here we were shopping at the mall in Cool Springs, hungry and looking for a quick dinner. I noticed the stellar ratings for Ikura Sushi on Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor, a nearly unachievable 4.771! It was only a stone’s throw away across the Brentwood line, situated right by a Dickey’s Barbecue where I’ve often eaten. And despite being fully aware of my latitudinal caveat, and the propensity for my fellow WilCo residents to misleadingly overinflated their Asian restaurant ratings, I had a good feeling about Ikura. Could they defy the odds with a kitchen stretching southward to 35.965117°N latitude, just outside my sushi comfort zone, a few miles closer to the equator than Nashville?

I have lofty demands. My gold standard would be the best sushi experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. The local benchmark is probably that beautiful seared tuna nigiri at Sumo in the Melrose neighborhood. And while my standards are impossibly high and the odds were against them, Ikura blew my mind!

The toro (fatty tuna) nigiri is expensive, and worth every bite at $10 a pop! In fact, it’s my new favorite nigiri in town! The more affordable salmon belly ($4.50 each) came fully composed upon request and was nearly as good as the coveted toro. The unagi (eel) isn’t on the nigiri menu, but you can still request it. And yes, it’s delicious! I’d skip the shrimp as it wasn’t very good. But everything else including tako (octopus), yellowtail, and escolar (a white fish) was spectacular!! And I haven’t even tried the gyoza, chicken katsu, and sushi rolls yet! I must return!
