They offered customization, which many sushi places don’t, and as a picky eater it made my night to be able to tweak or add things.
The wagyu composed was INSANE and the seared scallop nigiri just delicious. The 615 roll was another standout. So much flavor in everything we had, they are geniuses with taste here. Can’t wait to come back and try more.
Definitely check out the OG roll and yellowtail jalapeño, Wagyu composed and spicy tuna crispy rice. The miso soup is also incredible!!!
10000% recommend.
The restaurant feels very clean and has a nice chill vibe with tasteful music. All the staff were friendly and respectful. I’m so glad to have such a nice local sushi place!

I was in desperate need of a simple crunchy shrimp roll and this place had that covered. The crunchy crab roll and caterpillar roll were also delicious. The restaurant had a really cool atmosphere and I will definitely be back soon to try some fancier options!

So here we were shopping at the mall in Cool Springs, hungry and looking for a quick dinner. I noticed the stellar ratings for Ikura Sushi on Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor, a nearly unachievable 4.771! It was only a stone’s throw away across the Brentwood line, situated right by a Dickey’s Barbecue where I’ve often eaten. And despite being fully aware of my latitudinal caveat, and the propensity for my fellow WilCo residents to misleadingly overinflated their Asian restaurant ratings, I had a good feeling about Ikura. Could they defy the odds with a kitchen stretching southward to 35.965117°N latitude, just outside my sushi comfort zone, a few miles closer to the equator than Nashville?
I have lofty demands. My gold standard would be the best sushi experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. The local benchmark is probably that beautiful seared tuna nigiri at Sumo in the Melrose neighborhood. And while my standards are impossibly high and the odds were against them, Ikura blew my mind!
The toro (fatty tuna) nigiri is expensive, and worth every bite at $10 a pop! In fact, it’s my new favorite nigiri in town! The more affordable salmon belly ($4.50 each) came fully composed upon request and was nearly as good as the coveted toro. The unagi (eel) isn’t on the nigiri menu, but you can still request it. And yes, it’s delicious! I’d skip the shrimp as it wasn’t very good. But everything else including tako (octopus), yellowtail, and escolar (a white fish) was spectacular!! And I haven’t even tried the gyoza, chicken katsu, and sushi rolls yet! I must return!
