We had extremely high hopes since this restaurant features a relatively famous chef, Jason Wilson. I’d dined multiple times at his Seattle spot, Crush. The menu looked good and was psyched for an amazing experience despite it being Twisp with limited other options.

My wife ordered the burger and asked if she could replace the fries with something else and the server offered a Caesar. I ordered the Halibut and we shared the Jalapeño poppers and snap peas.

Everything was good. Not mind blowing but good.

Only complaint was when the bill came and the server charged us the $18 for the Caesar. If it wasn’t in exchange for the fries, the server should acknowledge that. Also, took a couple bites of the Caesar and it had a very strange flavor unlike any Caesar I’ve ever had – inedible.

Again, good – also not a lot of other choices in the area.

We were staying at the lodge for an overnight visit prior to hiking a trail in the morning. We had made a reservation anticipating the food to be amazing. I would like to say the salad and the asparagus were on par with what we were expecting.

When we got to our entrees is where the lack of flavor and seasoning started. My cod really had no flavor though the plate itself was presented beautifully. My partners dish, the beef, was very hard to chew through and also lacked seasoning.

I will say our server Jacob was amazing and recommending a bottle of wine to take back to the room, based on what I liked. He was also very attentive and only stopped by our table when he knew we needed something.

Would I try this place again? Yes 100%! I am unsure if this was just an off day for them or not. I would love to change my review in the future.

Last night, my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at The Veranda, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget. Situated on a picturesque ranch, the restaurant offers a stunning view of the Methow Valley that set the perfect backdrop for our evening.

Despite the front end of the hotel being short-staffed, our server Drew went above and beyond, juggling multiple roles with grace and ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout the night. Drew’s service was impeccable, a testament to his dedication and professionalism.

The Veranda prides itself on using fresh ingredients grown on the ranch, and this commitment to quality was evident in every bite. My husband savored the lamb chop entree, while I indulged in the short rib. Both dishes were prepared to perfection, showcasing the culinary talents of Chef Jason, a James Beard Award recipient. What made our dining experience truly extraordinary was knowing that Chef Jason was the sole force in the kitchen, personally preparing, executing, and plating each dish with expertise and creativity.

For anyone considering dining at The Veranda, we highly recommend it. Make sure to request a table by the window to enjoy the breathtaking sunset views. And, if you can, stay at the lodge for the night to fully immerse yourself in the serene and beautiful surroundings—something my husband and I plan to do on our next visit.

The Veranda isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a destination where exceptional food, attentive service, and a stunning location come together to create an unforgettable experience. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem.

At the end of a meandering lane, one finds this beautiful spot perched overlooking the valley.

On our first visit, after being warmly greeted at the door, we enjoyed happy hour drinks and a stunning sunset view in their cozy living room setting. We saw their delicious HH burger head to another pair of guests and heard them declare it ‘gorgeous’.

Last night we returned for dinner and enjoyed one of the most delicious meals I can remember. Highlights were their take on jalepeno poppers: gorgeous, flash fried balls of sophisticated flavor atop a pool of the lightest mole; the prosciutto wrapped pears, plated in a perfectly balanced sauce, and the impeccable elk chops, served medium rare and gorgeously glazed, with rich sides of creamy farro and dollops of lingonberry and finely sliced pear. It was pure art.

Thanks for such a gorgeous evening. Chef Jason is doing amazing things, and the staff are as warm and professional as it gets.

Can’t wait to visit again!! ❤️

We have been followers of Chef Jason Wilson since his Crush days. When we heard of this lodge so close to our new home (Manson, Wa) we had to come check it out. We were absolutely delighted with the food and experience tonight. Not only was everything perfectly cooked the how well is was seasoned should be the gold standard. Highly recommend their waygu beef! Service is also fine dinning level in this cozy lodge. Oh and the wine list??? Expect to spend but the price to quality is legit. We hope to make it back out with our parents and friends.

We went for dinner with family and unfortunately our food was disappointing. The pasta supposedly had a carrot Parmesan cream sauce, but lacked any taste of Parmesan and the carrots in the dish were raw. The lamb chops came to the table with cold vegetables and under cooked, cool, somewhat flavorless chops. The restaurant was nowhere near full, so the kitchen shouldn’t have been overwhelmed. We didn’t expect large portions, but were surprised by the small amount of food on the plate. Given the hype and reviews we had high hopes and looked forward to a fine meal. Perhaps it was just an off night, but at those prices we expected far better. That said ,our server was attentive, knowledgeable and top notch.

This restaurant, and the Casia lodge in which it is located, are special places. The lodge has the atmosphere of unpretentious old money (think “Yellowstone Ranch”) and one can imagine the future of the west was hammered out there over the decades, in invitation-only meetings of people who arrived wearing big cowboy hats. Veranda provides a dining experience consistent with Casia. The service is comparable to that of fine restaurants in France where table service is an art and a profession. The extensive but well-curated wine list focuses, but not exclusively, on the best of Northwest wine. The food preparation is flawless but sometimes overshoots its end result. Your server will suggest the candied tangerine olives as a starter. I found them overwhelming. Six on a charcuterie plate: fabulous. A whole bowl of them: Ugh. Most of the items on the menu simply have too much going on: flavors and ingredients layered on top of each other in a way that achieves the obvious goal of complexity but muffles every flavor. That’s too bad because the ingredients, as far as I could tell, are of the best quality, and deserve simpler sophistication. Pick meat over fish (unless they happen to have local steelhead); after all, you’re in Twisp. And hope they add port and a spot of just the right cheese to their dessert offerings, because the setting and atmosphere really need that as the final punctuation to a special dining experience.

After over ten years of visiting the Methow Valley, this was easily the best dining experience I’ve had. Chef Jason’s food was incredible – it’s obvious he is supremely talented and dedicated to his craft. The setting is unique and beautiful, our server Drew was professional as they come but also made us feel relaxed. Charlie the flame point Siamese was an absolute gentleman. If you value having memorable dining experiences, do yourself a favor and check this place out!
