Crab Boil 59 is a hidden gem! We were looking for a restaurant to celebrate a birthday party and this place has surpassed our expectations! The manager was very accommodating and went out of her way to help us make the party a success. The owners were also wonderful for allowing us to book the place for a reasonable price. The food was fantastic and the ambiance is perfect. The place looks simple on the outside but the inside was something I wouldn’t expect. The guests and I highly recommend this place!

False advertising! I just placed a large pick up order (~$340) at CrabBoil59 and received SIGNIFICANTLY less seafood than the advertised pound portions. Crabboil59’s website clearly states “$58.99 for a full lb of king crab legs” as shown in the attached photo. Yet, my order only contained a single king crab leg weighing in at 6.8 oz which is not even close to the advertised full LB and works out to be $135/lb! Their pricing is a complete lie and if I had not gotten 4 sides my entire meal would have consisted of A SINGLE CRAB LEG. Almost $60 for a miniscule amount of meat!! This was the case for multiple bags in my order. The manager, Kristy, was unwilling to stand by their advertised pricing/portions and was quite argumentative and insistent that the online pricing does not advertise portions as half or full pounds. This is clearly contradicted as shown by the attached photo that was taken directly from CrabBoil59’s website. Very poor customer service and will not be ordering here again!
*Update* The website menu was just updated to delete the pricing that showed half/full pounds of seafood. Clearly Crabboil59 is completely aware of their lie regarding the advertised pricing at the time of my order and is now attempting to cover it up. Very disappointing!!!

PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE. I’ve never felt the need to write a negative review for any restaurant, I just pay and never go back. However, the words of the manager Christy were beyond infuriating and insulting – AND COMPLETELY FALSE.
We ordered over $330 of food, and tipped generously, only to get home from picking up our order and realized items were not only missing, but the quantity of seafood was a fractional amount. On their website (link listed here – Menu | Crab Boil 59 | Plainfield IL
AND you can go into the restaurant and see the same menu on the wall AND I’ve attached a picture of their website) it lists the pricing per pound, or half pound in some cases. We ordered a pound of everything AND were charged the per pound price for every meal. We were given fractional amounts of all the seafood. I’ve attached a picture of the lobster tail “pound” on a scale, as well as a picture of my hand next to it for reference to show size.
Now, I understand everyone can make mistakes or perhaps there was a miscommunication. My mother called in gently explaining the situation and trying to find a resolution. She ended up speaking with Christy (THE MANAGER) – who not only denied that their menu even showed price per pound, but also stated that we WERE given a full pound of each. Story wasn’t consistent. Is it that the menu is wrongly listed, or that we were given a whole pound?
She then proceeded to call my mother crazy (TWICE) when speaking to my father, after my mom handed the phone over to him because Christy was yelling at her.
Ultimately, I’m sincerely infuriated by the lack of customer service and borderline defamation. I will be reporting to the BBB. If Crab Boil 59 is willing to stand by this employee, and the claims made, I highly suggest you stay far far away from here. They will waste your time, money and go as far as to call you crazy for referencing THEIR online and in restaurant menu. PLEASE ALSO NOTE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS ISSUE, READ THE OTHER REVIEWS FOR EVEN MORE EVIDENCE.
UPDATE – They just updated the website… clearly they knew they were in the wrong and were willing to change it online after the fact, but not acknowledge the issue and try to correct it with paying customer. Seems highly suspect and deceptive to me. Anything changed on the web is time marked behind the scenes, and this could possible be a legal issue to change it suddenly after this without correcting customers bill… will mention this to BBB as well as Illinois AG office. Found out that they will look into this type of fraud.

Was there for the first time. First impression was the customer service by our waiter/waitress which name i will not disclose. The service was great. We were treated kindly and with respect. Menu was explained to us perfectly and drinks were on the table soon after they were ordered. He/she was on top of everything and answered every question we had in detail. The food was great. My friends and i all said we were definitely coming back and it was a party of 15 people. Until it was time to pay the tab. Prices were great but the problem was that there was a random service fee, which we all thought it was a tip for the waiter/waitress which was great he/she deserved it by all means. But then a friend asked out of curiosity “ The tip is included right?” And thats when the waiter/waitress stated “ No that service fee is for the moat part taken from the owner, JOSE. He is very greedy and takes his employees money and uses a service fee to basically steal from customers as well.” My friend then asked for his receipt to add a tip since he had paid with his card and then the waiter/waitress stated, “ He also takes 50% of our tips that are from credit/debit cards, he is very greedy”. Overall the food and service was great. But just that little information about the owner was enough for me and my 19 friends to never come to this place again.

We typically order from a different place but it’s not on any of the delivery apps. We thought we would try this place since it had good reviews.
We get whole shrimp and peel them ourselves. The shrimp were terrible. They were falling apart and mushy. We struggled to even peel them. We ended up throwing away at least half of them. The corn and potatoes were bad too.
The only good parts were the fries we ordered.
I rarely write a review but it ruined our night and dinner.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who felt they were being ripped off!!! I also spent over $70 for 4 tiny snow crabs clusters covered in sauce as if it was a lot. The female who I believe works with her husband had an attitude when I asked about my order. I didn’t want to fuss so I told all my family not to ever go there again. We’ve been to places that didn’t look super nice on the outside or inside and paid a very good price for the amount of food we ordered. There are better crab places than this over priced placed.

My husband and I went to Crab Boil 59 last weekend and loved it. The decor is simple, casual, but traditional southern style Cajun which adds to the fun. The food was amazing! My husband and I had the combo with shrimp, muscles, and crab legs and an extra order of crab legs because they were just that good. The muscles were to die for. And the 59 sauce made the dinner. It’s flavorful, buttery, spicy, and a perfect compliment to the seafood, rice, corn, everything really!! We suggested they sell the sauce we loved it so much. The service was great -the owner made her way to every table to get feedback on the guest experience. While there we already started planning when we can return.

Great Drinks and of Course, CRAB!
The Seafood Medley is a good choice at a decent price. Snow crab, shrimp, mussels, sausage, corn, and a baby potato – around $27. Service was excellent and the Bloody Mary Christie made was phenomenal!! I had two!
