I loved this place as I travel 30 plus mins to get their sandwich. Unfortunately, this will be our last! My wife and I love the 18th ave sandwich and came here numerous times. Today 3/4/26 at 4:30 PM I called and ordered two 18th Ave sandwiches and picked it up at 5:05 PM. At 5:45 PM got home to open up and enjoy our dinner, but we were extremely disappointed and unsatisfied. It’s ridiculous that we were given burnt chicken cutlets. This is a way to lose customers because my wife and I were regulars. The food was hard to chew, the cheese usually melts and we believe this was old stale chicken slapped on the bread. The right thing to do was to throw away the brunt chicken and put fresh one on it. Extremely unsatisfying experience with a one plus hour of driving and spending $35 on two brunt sandwiches.

Mercato Cucina is on another LEVEL.
Dave (the owner) is an absolute master of his craft. The sandwiches here are OUT OF THIS WORLD — and I don’t say that lightly. Every. Single. Time. The food is insanely fresh, packed with flavor, and clearly made with passion and intention.

This isn’t just a sandwich spot — it’s a full experience. Quality ingredients, creative specialties, and flavors that hit your taste buds in ways you didn’t even know you were missing. You can taste the care in every bite.

If you appreciate real food, specialty sandwiches, and top-tier quality, Mercato Cucina is a MUST.

Highly recommended to anyone willing to trip their taste buds and walk away craving their next visit before they even finish the first sandwich.

Dave — keep doing what you’re doing. Absolute

Hands down you aren’t going to get a better sandwich anywhere else. Everything beyond fresh…. Cutlets made right in front of you before they go on your sandwich. Honestly the hardest part is picking just one. Always fresh and always delicious. Thank you!

PHENOMENAL

Italians are known for great pizza, pasta, & cheeses. I never would’ve guessed they can make a bombshell sandwich!

$15.95 for the 18th Ave:
consists 1.90 lbs of Italiano goodness & madness.

The chicken cutlet shouts perfection with the provolone and fresh Semolina bread. One bite and your eyes open wide. Wow! Huge portion & good enough to share.

Top 3 sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Katz’s deli is not even on the list. Come with a big appetite and prepare to be WOWED!

Chef David Buico has really outdone himself.

Update:
18th Avenue is for A-Listers

Amazing sandwich and huge. I’m a bigger guy with a big appetite but the capo was huge!! Fresh ingredients and fresh mozzarella you can’t go wrong. Everything else is made to order and very high quality. Will def stop by again next time I’m in Huntington.

The owner wasn’t particularly nice or friendly but then again geniuses rarely are. Yes! this guy is a culinary genius that somehow transformed an ordinary deli sandwich into a gourmet sensory experience. Clearly fresh, high quality ingredients, no short cuts on flavor and for a perfectly reasonable price too! I’m impressed. I can’t wait to be hungry again so i can go back. Probably a week or so given the portion size.

The first time I visited Mercato my expectations were admittedly pretty low. I was hangry and stopped in because it was convenient, ignoring the fact that the last place open in this spot served week old bagels. I brought home “The Capo” and my first impression was that it was enough for 2 meals… it was so good that it wound up being 2 bites. I’ve visited at least another dozen times since and each time I’m just as impressed as the first. The sandwiches are generous in size and made with truly top shelf ingredients. I’ve lived in Huntington my whole life and can guarantee no one is putting out a product like this. My girlfriend and I both recently attended a cheese making class hosted by Chef David. He taught the basic principles of fresh cheese and how to incorporate them into home cooked dishes. We’ve both been cooking since we were kids yet learned so much from Chef David at class. The Chef, and his better half Deb, are truly committed to their shop and making it feel like home for their customers – just don’t ask him for whole wheat bread, subways down the road. I’m so thankful to have Mercato so close by. Don’t miss it!

Mercado Cucina is a must-visit gem located in Huntington Long Island, originally from Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. They serve one of the best handmade sandwiches that are made with love and homemade ingredients. Upon trying their sandwich, I was blown away by its deliciousness and couldn’t finish it despite my best efforts.

Mercado Cucina prides itself on their attention to detail and quality, and it shows in their food. Their sandwiches are crafted with care, ensuring that each bite is packed with flavor. It’s evident that they put a lot of effort and love into every dish they make.

If you’re looking for a satisfying and delicious meal, Mercado Cucina is the place to go. Their sandwiches are a must-try, and their commitment to quality will keep you coming back for more.

Better than 5 stars! Reminds me of the deli sandwiches of Bensonhurst Brooklyn. The names of the sandwiches reflect that area of Brooklyn and I haven’t had one since I moved out of there in the late 90s. Well not anymore! This place will definitely be on my places to regularly visit.

The sandwiches may seem a bit on the expensive side at first glance but do not be deterred. They are worth every penny and then some. The ingredients are top notch and the bread, the bread alone is worth the trip to visit the shop. I haven’t had bread like this in a very long time. A often forgotten piece of the sandwich puzzle but great bread will make a great sandwich even better.

We had the capo and 18th ave today and I am definitely craving the godmother and rocco for the next visit. I finished the entire sandwich and didn’t feel bloated, just a happy full. No acid reflux, no gassy burps, just a calm and happy satiated stomach.

I am not a big coffee drinker (figure a random one once a month) but the dyker heights and cinque have changed my mind. I can drink these two everyday.

I can’t find anything displeasing about Mercato Cucina. The parking can be a little scarce (although there is a resident permit parking lot across the street which is almost always empty.)

Buy any one of their sandwiches which spikes your interest, drink a coffee while the sandwich is being made, take home said sandwich and enjoy with an adult beverage of your choice then live happily ever after!

Have ordered here 2 times before with no issues but this time I was served burnt bacon on both bacon egg and cheese heroes. Like really it’s burnt to a crisp, how do you serve that to your customers.. they provided a refund but most likely won’t be back.
