We went on a Friday night and it wasn’t crowded. The food was very good and flavorful. Refreshing to have a great option for non-chain cooked food. Wait is a bit longer to have your food but you should know ahead that good things come to thoes who wait. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes left us completely satisfied with leftovers. If you’re looking to try something new you won’t be disappointed.

This laid back and beautiful restaurant provides the perfect escape from the daily grind. Order up a strong cup of coffee and watch traffic wiz by on Penn Avenue as you wait for your meal; which could be a while depending on the time of day and the number of customers in the place. My early afternoon Sunday lunch was a tad slow arriving at our table but the jazzy tunes and friendly service made the wait bearable. The pork belly mofongo appetizers were good despite an almost too buttery sauce. I absolutely loved the pineapple BBQ ribs; they fell off the bone and the sauce was rich and spicy. A side of mash potatoes was decent. The bandeja paisa was hit and miss. The black beans elevated the pedestrian white rice once combined. The grilled steak was dry and overcooked but the Colombian sausage and sweet plantains were delicious. Don’t forget dessert – their tres leches was pretty good. In addition, as of July 24, 2022, the place is BYOB so plan accordingly.

My boyfriend and I are in the area for a sports event, and we stopped in at Origen for some dinner. It was really good! & our waiter was extremely thankful for our business. If we lived in the area, we’d be here often!

Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Staff was friendly and service was great. I had mofongo con camorones and my husband had carnita frita. We both left full and pleased. Definitely will be returning and definitely recommend going.

The appetizer (Mofonguitos) recommended by the waiter was fantastic!! Both of our meals were amazing & very flavorful.

I was very impressed with Origen. Take out service was fast. The food was delicious. I had the Cuban sandwich which was packed full. I tried the Mofongo which is something I had never tried before. Again, it was delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more of their cuisine.
