And when he says fire, he really means it.
The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I got the D’s Onion Burger, and it did not disappoint — super flavorful, perfectly cheesy, and the onions were sautéed to absolute perfection.
This was my second time going, and everything continues to impress. The menu is clean, easy to read, and nicely laid out. You can tell they care about quality, not just the food but the whole experience.
If you like home-cooked meals made right and good people behind the counter, I would definitely recommend checking out D’s Hot Kitchen. I’ll for sure be back!
Let me tell you about D…
He is gifted in the kitchen!
Best Cheesesteak I’ve had in a very long time! Made with sliced ribeye, peppers, onions, and lots of cheese!!! Very filling! I took home almost half.
My husband had 2 huge boneless fried pork chops on his plate before I thought about taking pictures lol. Came with 2 sides (mac & cheese and mashed potatoes w/ gravy) and a delicious dinner roll.
Our toddler had the grilled cheese kids meal with fries.
Everything was seasoned to perfection and very filling!
We had the honor of meeting D during our second visit. He’s very kind, humble and down to earth.
Also, the waitresses provide excellent service!
D’s Hot Kitchen in Sperry is definitely a must try.
P.S. I’m not sure if my pictures do the food any justice. Lol
This occupies a space at 86th St North and Hwy 75, which is an older space, but D’s has rehabbed it and it’s nice and clean.
Menu is fairly short, focusing on basic diner fare, with sandwiches, burgers and basic dinners, such as Chicken Fried Steak/Chicken, Pork Chops, Meatloaf, etc.
Per my usual first try, I went with CFS, mashed potatos and green beans.
My meal arrived in a really good time, so that’s a plus. The portion was probably a little small for a dinner, but for lunch it was perfect. The CFS itself was one of the better ones I’ve had lately. A little thin, but fork tender with a great coating. Like most CFS, there was a little shrinkage around the edges, but that’s just a thing you deal with. Potatoes were real, not instant, and plenty of gravy on both. The green beans were really well done, with onions and bacon in good quantities.
With a glass of tea, lunch ran to just north of $15, but that’s a good price to me for something fresh cooked to order.
Overall, I’m very satisfied. Again, good people, good food and good service. I chatted with the owner at the register and got to know him a bit, and he’s a good guy. I plan on making D’s a regular in my rotation.
