Not my first time here, but I realized that I haven’t reviewed it yet. I first went with my husband for date night. The food was unforgettable. Delicious. Today I stopped in for lunch with my mom. We mentioned splitting the burger and they split it for us! Super considerate and delicious. I also had the candied bacon. To die foe. Had a great amount fo smoke to it, and a good sweet and salty flavor.

Best place to go to in downtown Dover. Perfect for a Date or even a get-together with friends. Chef prepare daily features. The food was perfect. My favorite was a Chili and Lime smoked wings. Drinks were the best drinks I had in a while in Dover. Try an Old Fashion with Angel’s Envy Bourbon… you would not be disappointed.

A Delightful Setting, but the Food Needs a Little Tune-Up!
I recently visited 1857 Jackson House and was immediately charmed by the ambiance—perfect for a casual night out. We started off with the corn bread appetizer, which was delicious! We got two adorable muffin-top-shaped pieces that were quite tasty, but for $12, I was hoping for a bit more of that cornbread magic.
Now, onto the fish and chips. Sadly, the fish had a bit of an odor, and there was way too much breading for the tiny amount of cod inside. The roll was practically drowning in tartar sauce, and the fries had a mysterious white powder on them that turned out to be vinegar—definitely not what I expected! The hush puppies were small, cute, and flavorful, though—a definite highlight!
I might give this place another go and try one of the salads that looked delicious from afar, but for now, with a $70 bill, it didn’t quite live up to what I was hoping for. Maybe next time!

Discovered this place from google map reviews actually and it was pretty good. Personally I wanted more lunch options during brunch but I get that’s under my control on Saturday morning. The burger was good and so were the fries too. Loved the inside vibe. It felt very fresh and new. The mocktail – blueberry was awesome! Friendly and professional service. I would go back but try something different.

What a lovely place for Saturday brunch. Indoor and outdoor seating options are both great on a lovely fall day. Tons of opens for the breakfast goer or those that want more of a lunch meal. Even more specials too. Highly highly recommend the Cali BLT smash burger. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Special Thai shrimp spring rolls were great but perhaps not worth $20 for five small shrimp. Otherwise great spot and definitely will be back.

Their Grits were the best and creaminess Grits I ever had. It was so peaceful there. Waitress was very friendly and patient and I arrived within an hour of closing.
Today we went for brunch, and the service was excellent. We trued some new dishes anc everything was delicious. I just love this place, and the chef is simply amazing.

Another great dinner at 1857 Jackson House. Everything was great as usual but the scallops and risotto, they were really impressive. Cheers to quality food and a great dining experience. Highly recommend this place. They know how to make a great Negroni as well. Cheers!

We went here for the first time, and enjoyed really great food and service. I had the braised lamb, and my husband had the smash burger. Quality and portions were great. Drinks were also very high quality. Very happy that a restaurant of this caliber is available in Dover, looking forward to sharing this experience with our friends in the future. Tonight was my second visit . First was for brunch. Tonight I had mushroom soup, duck fat fries, half rack of lamb and husband had southwest salad with chicken and shrimp.
I’m excited for Dover to have a nice ish restaurant.
The food is on a Fabulous scale in the middle
I give it a good with hopes of a fabulous .
Service , although our server was sweet,
Needs more training. Also all the staff is very very concerned about closing time .
Both of my visits I was given several alerts on time. From we need to seat you now , to we need you to order / to last call from the kitchen even though we were eating our dinner and it was still 37 minute til closing time .
Back to the service it just needs to be brought up to a bit higher quality.
For me just ok service is a reason to second guess coming back. Here’s why.
I love the space and if the food looks good but is just ok. I don’t mind spending if I know the service will be great because that’s what makes it special.
So far the only thing making 1875 feel special is the location. And by that I mean that beautiful porch! Super excited for an outside summer evening dinner!
Until then simplify the menu and up the server / staff training.
I like feeling like I could bring my friends from out of town to Dover for a nice dinner.

1857 is an excellent brunch spot! The atmosphere, service, and definitely the food! They have a large deck with tables for when the weather is nice and a bar inside. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try. I’ll definitely be going back!
