Blackbird Bakery & Cafe in Staunton, IL. Well worth the visit. The pastries and other baked goods are top notch! They do sell out early of special offerings but if you can’t get there early, you can call ahead and they’ll set some back for you. A French quality pastry shop in a small town along historic Route 66.

Was in town for the mac. Decided to try , WOW. This place is great. The baked goods were fantastic, but the French toast was the best I’ve ever eaten. All made from scratch in their kitchen. Im soo happy they are 2 hours away. I would be there every opportunity. The staff are super helpful and a very relaxed atmosphere. If you are close you need to go on Saturday. We will be back

I don’t know where to begin. Blackbird was recommended to me, and it took me a long time to finally make it here, but I am so glad I did. It was my first time, so I may have missed something, but it seemed like more of a cafe, than a bakery, even though there were bakery items there. The Croque Madame was
sensational. And huge. My wife got French Toast with apples and she was also impressed. I would like to try the biscuits and gravy and some sweet treats, because our food was so dang good. I would HIGHLY recommend Blackbird if you’re a breakfast person.

First time here as I am not local; I was only in town picking up a cake. Ho Made Happiness, the cake maker, recommended it. So glad she did! I got a caramel macchiato, extra sweet, and it was delicious!!!

For a small town bakery, I was blown away. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but if you twist my arm, I’ll say, Apple Fritter. That is if you’re talking about their pastries. Otherwise, I’ll choose the Avocado Toast. The toast looked so good, I dove into it and forgot to take a picture, it was that yummy.
What really surprised me and delighted me to no end, is the fact that they offer booze. I’m retired so a breakfast out is always like a weekend brunch. I love a Bloody Mary and my cousin likes a Mimosa and they were able to satisfy each of our preferences. Their bar is limited, but the beers they offer are local craft beers. Love it when local supports local.
Their chicken salad is killer and and once you’ve tried it, you’ll be buying a container to take home. I like grapes in my chick salad and this one also has candied pecans. OMG, those two extra ingredients made my taste buds sing.
The kitchen is in full view of the dining area, so you can see them creating their magic. You can also see how clean and will organized their work space is.
Customer Service is outstanding. It’s small town hospitality – the staff was witty and fun to banter with. Blackbird is about a half hour drive from my house. It’s not a drive I want to make on the regular, but it is a drive definitely worth a special treat.

Blackbird Bakery provided the cake and cupcakes for our wedding this past September. It was absolutely beautiful, delicious, and we got so many complIments on the overall appearance and taste! Emily was so easy to work with, and made our vague description of what we wanted in a cake come to life 🙂 Not to mention, Blackbird is one of the more affordable places in the area to cater baked goods. Definitely recommend going to them if you need sweets or cake for any occasion!
