I tried a newly opened Japanese shabu-shabu spot in Arcadia, and the quality of the meat really impressed me

The first impression walking in was quiet and warm.
The space has a clean, minimalist Japanese style, with comfortable table spacing — not noisy at all, so it’s very relaxing for chatting and dining. The service is thoughtful too; they proactively remind you about refills and ordering, which is a nice touch.

Their broths are house-made, not heavy or overpowering.
They focus on a clean, natural flavor, so whether you’re cooking meat or vegetables, you can really taste the ingredients themselves — something I personally really value.

This time we ordered sets A, C, D, and E, which included:
• Nebraska Angus Ribeye
• SRF Wagyu beef tongue
• Japanese Sakura pork belly
• Japanese Kagoshima A5 Wagyu

They offer a wide range of options, from entry-level to higher-grade meats. The key point is —
you don’t have to order the most expensive set to feel satisfied.
If you enjoy slowly upgrading and trying different cuts, I think you’ll really like this style.

One more thing worth mentioning —
they have lunch specials on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays through Sundays,
from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with discounted pricing.
It’s definitely a great value if you come for lunch.

Overall, I’d say this place is perfect if you
want good-quality meat without anything too flashy,
or if you’re looking for a satisfying shabu-shabu lunch that doesn’t feel over-the-top.

If you’re looking for hot pot spot with high-quality cuts, Shabubu is a must-visit. The menu focuses on curated Shabu Shabu sets that come with a vegetable set and their signature homemade sesame and ponzu dipping sauces.

The Soup Bases:
We tried two very different but equally delicious broths:
* Spicy Miso: This had a great kick without being overwhelming, providing a rich, savory depth that paired perfectly with the beef.
* Hotate Chicken: This was a standout: delicate, clean, and full of umami. It really allowed the natural flavors of the premium meats to shine through.

The Meat Selection:
The quality of the proteins here is exceptional. We sampled a variety of tiers:
* Japan Kagoshima A5 Wagyu: The absolute star of the show. The marbling was incredible, and it literally melted in the mouth. It’s worth the splurge for the buttery texture alone.
* SRF Wagyu Beef Tongue: Thinly sliced and perfectly tender with that signature slightly snappy texture. It soaked up the Hotate Chicken broth beautifully.
* Japan Sakura Pork Belly: Very fresh and sweet. It wasn’t overly fatty, offering a nice balance to the richer Wagyu cuts.
* Nebraska Angus Choice Ribeye: A solid, reliable classic. Even as the most “standard” option we ordered, the meat was high-quality, lean, and very satisfying.
The ambiance was perfect, and the service was phenomenal; they even drained the oil from my soup in the middle of the meal and continued to pour me soup refills! Can’t wait to visit again soon!!

Found a great spot for a post-work recharge in Arcadia! Shabubu is perfect for a cozy dinner. I love the individual pot design,. We don’t have to compromise on flavors and can enjoy your own soup base. Each set comes with a choice of meat, a fresh veggie platter, and two dipping sauces (sesame and ponzu), which is super satisfying.

Came with a friend and left impressed. A5 Wagyu melted in my mouth, the Sakura pork changed my mind about pork, and the hotate chicken was so good I drank several bowls. Attentive service too — would return.

Very disappointing since we gave up going to our usual spot to try this place based on the mostly positive reviews.

Came here on a quiet Tuesday night there were 2 tables other than us. Tables are longer than they are wide so I was sitting closer to the neighboring table next to me than to my wife across the table. This made conversations interesting since the guy on the table next to me could hear me clearer than my wife…

Got the $28 “combo A” choice ribeye, $38 “combo B” prime ribeye, and a side of $16 6pc tongue. The choice ribeye was some of the worst meat I’ve ever had at a hot pot restaurant. It broke down in my mouth like sand. The prime ribeye my wife got was a little better but still not great. Each combo comes with 10 slices, but judging the thickness of the cuts I’d guess each cut was 1oz for a total of 10oz of meat. Very overpriced if you ask me. The veggies are minimal with cabbage, kale, enoki mushroom , 1pc of small tofu, 1/6 of a corn,
and a half block of udon. No rice included. Very disappointing. Did not feel like a $50 per person meal.

Ppl are going to praise the meat quality if you get the more expensive A5 Wagyu options but we weren’t looking to spend 80+ a head. And when would you complain about A5 quality. Another live and learn lesson.
