This place is an oasis among any bad things you are going through at a hospital. They have great food, and great service, and it is a nice respite for a bit.
My favorite things- Any of their pizzas, the burgers (Bun is grilled nicely with butter, and you taste it) and of course the fries are delicious! I am still exploring the menu, but everything I have tasted so far is great (6 items, buffalo chicken pizza, pizzas with various toppings, meat lovers, cheeseburger, rodeo burger, fries)
This is not hospital food, it is just a great diner!

If you want something more than the typical hospital cafeteria food, then try Virtues. They are located on the ground floor of Akron Summa hospital. I am at the hospital because a family member is having surgery, and this restaurant was recommended by the desk staff. You walk to the counter and order. They give you a buzzer that signals you when the order is ready. I had the signature BLT and a side Ceasar salad. The salad was good size, lettuce was crisp and fresh. The BLT is served on sourdough bread and had a chitpotle mayo that gave it a good flavor and just a tinge of heat. For expecting “hospital” food, this was a pleasant surprise. It cost me just under $20 for the sandwich, salad, and a fountain drink.

Ignore the menu for this listing, it’s out of date. Food choices are not the same and those that are can be more expensive.

I was at Summa today for my surgery follow up. I used to work for the GM of the food service restaurants at the hospital. The fine dining Virtues Restaurant used to be under our purview.. I loved they always had a good selection of gluten-free desserts (chocolate mousse, cookies and more) and other entrées available gluten-free as well as a pizza with a gluten-free crust. Well, the quality and the options have definitely decreased. My pizza crust was mostly raw and they only had a gluten-free brownie to offer. Probably won’t be coming back again.

The food here is exceptional! I have NEVER had a bad meal. On Mondays they offer their pizzas at buy one get another one for a dollar. All of the pizzas are amazing. Try the soup! OMG it is so good.

The atmosphere here is quite nice, and some of the menu items are ambitious. The roasted eggplant soup, for example, is truly outstanding.
But, the prices are too high for the overall quality, and 3/4 of my takeout orders have had missing items or cooking issues.

Very nice restraint for being in a hospital. I actually will go their for lunch some times when I am on a break from school. If that tells you how good it is. They have a great selection of deserts. I would also recommend the roasted eggplant soup. I get it every time I visit this Restaraunt . also I never had a dish here that wasn’t good. I think that you should give it a try

Virtues is located just in the Summa Hospital in Akron. The restaurant is clean and inviting, with comfortable seating of various types. Our server was pleasant and efficient. Make sure to check their “daily specials, which are often worth the trip”.
I had the Pear Gorgonzola Pizza…it was very delicious…crispy, thin crust topped with plenty of pears and cheese, and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Lovely gourmet pizza; I would order again.
My husband had the fish filet sandwich…he says the fish was tasty, but it came on a hamburger roll with American cheese, and it was more bread than it was fish@ $8.95 with no sides…not even chips. He would not order again.

Who knew a 5 star restaurant could exist in a hospital? The food is amazing! The eggplant soup is so good it’s indescribable. Same for the mushroom stuffed ravioli. Highly recommend this little restaurant!
