I tried their pork chops and they were outstanding tender, rich in taste, and cooked just right. The toast they serve on the side was warm, soft, and incredibly fresh. The only part that felt a little plain to me was the potato; even with extra toppings, it didn’t stand out much. A touch of garlic oil or a slow roast with herbs might lift its flavor. Overall, though, the meal was truly satisfying.

Madres Brunch is a fun breakfast place to take your significant other to or to go to with a group of friends — if you don’t mind the premium prices.

The Atmosphere:
The walls are covered with cool illustrations of birds, butterflies, Care Bears, Pinky & the Brain, and Marilyn Monroe. There’s also accent walls with faux leaves and neon pink signs with various saying, like “Living the Brunch Life.” Yes, the aesthetic lacks cohesion and feels pretty ADHD, but it does immediately set a fun vibe.

The Food:
My wife and I shared one dish — the Madres Chilaquiles — so we can’t speak to the whole menu. However, the chilaquiles was just alright. The fried tortilla chips was missing that delicate balance of flavorful softness and fresh crispness on the edges. Unfortunately, they were just soggy with minimal flavors other than a mild kick from the salsa. I didn’t taste any cheese, crema, or cilantro. The birria was a little dry and didn’t pull apart easily as I expected.

On the positive side, the consome dip that accompanied the birria was quite good. Meanwhile, the scrambled eggs were perfect. Plus, the portions were generous! Like I said, my wife and I split the dish and were both satisfied.

The Drinks:
Again, my wife split a beverage … or should I say beverages. That’s because we got the Special Coffee Flight, which had 4 different small coffees — pistachio, horchata, masapan, and Abuelita’s hot chocolate. All were quite good, with the Abuelita’s being the best one. A restaurant always scores extra points when they offer a flight of drinks, allowing us to try more flavors than we normally would want or could afford.

The Service:
Our server was solid — polite, knowledgeable, and checked in with us several times.

The Cost:
Madres Brunch gets a knock for following the trend of having high prices for foods that really aren’t that expensive to make. (I mean, c’mon, it’s basically breakfast food we could make at home!) Remember, my wife and I shared a dish and a drink, yet our bill came out to about $48 … without tip. (I couldn’t imagine paying $90 for breakfast if the two of us each got a dish and a drink!)

Conclusion:
Based on the food and the inflated prices, I would normally give this place 3 out of 5 stars. The coffee and the atmosphere definitely bumps that rating up to a 3.5 out of 5. However, because the service was good, I’m happy to round up to a 4 out of 5 rating (since I can’t do half stars). I look forward to returning and trying other dishes to see if the other food is better.

Madres Brunch in Placentia is an absolute gem! The Green Chilaquiles were packed with flavor and instantly took me back to the days when my grandma used to cook for me—pure comfort on a plate. Their Waffles and Tres Leches Pancakes were just as amazing—rich, soft, and full of flavor.

The environment was warm, decorative, and inviting, and our waiter was incredibly attentive throughout the meal. We also tried their flavored Micheladas and Margaritas, and they were absolutely on point—perfectly balanced and refreshing.

Definitely coming back. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great food, great service, and a cozy brunch spot!

Coming here from a magazine ad leading to YouTube reviews leading to checking it out. We went with their chilaquiles which came out cold and soggy with no flavor other than being tomatoey and smokey and mild. It was just terribly cold and mushy. The chile toreado was a yellow pepper with no seasoning almost raw. Whats the point of even calling it like that there was no love for that small detail. I mean Tajin goes a long way but in my opinion taking the easy way out. The black beans was hidden below and was a thin layer beneath the chips. It should be a nice lake of beans as a standard. The cotija cheese was the only thing that was generous and the chilaquiles chips. The steak were a few small rectangular cuts that lacked salt and seasoning and it looked underdone. The steak could have shown clues that it was well grilled and some lemon and pepper some sea salt. There was hardly any egg with the single egg that comes with it. Either way it was a complete disaster ordering this.

The pastor omelette was the only entree worth the price because the flavor of it was great but being paired with tiny lake of beans sitting on a mini taco shell bowl holding guac inside was very confusing. No roasted potatoes that come standard no generous beans or refried beans as standard that also was a hot mess being paired to a great omelette.

There were no salsas offered to enhance both entrees.

The lattes were extremely sweet. The abuelita chocolate was obvious but it overwhelmed any coffee or espresso. We both agreed they were hot cups of chocolate milk with decent art on top. The barista should taste their work prior to serving and also know a golden ratio rule when making flavored lattes. Also the mugs were small and the price and result was absolutely not worth the $7 each.

There was no kids menu. Their classic egg bacon toast pancake combo absolutely looked great and i can see it was assembled properly. The bacon look great and like 4 strips did look pretty good. However trying the $4 add-on pancake that looked photogenic actually wasnt good at all. It had some weird flavor that didnt complement its pancake flavor. So far Black Bear Diners pancake is the standard in my book for excellent pancakes.

Ultimately i wanted to go all out or go home kind of visit coming here as it is a risk trying new places branching out to see whose delivering great breakfast but this place is absolutely not representing the hype i saw YouTubers posting videos at their flagship Bellflower location and people seeming to enjoy their food.

The inside art is stunning like Piglet and it has absolutely so much potential but i feel the cook and barista do not taste their work or are not passionate about flavors at all also does not know how it suppose to come.

Now the overpriced food being nickle and dimed here and there could have been okay if the food was spectacular but paying for what we ate and of course tipping the waiter without judging her how her peers perform in the kitchen then realizing in realtime sitting there how we got ripped off in broad daylight just upsets me so much because it makes me regret coming here. I think if a manager who never came to our table would have wandered at every table asking how its going many things would have got fixed or waiving the price of the chilaquiles fetching almost $30 for cold soggy mess with no flavor

What a great place. Awesome vibe, great food, and great service. We held a surprise baby shower and had such a good time. The restaurant manager Crystal and her staff were great and made sure we were taken care of.

The food was good. I ordered the chilaquiles. Place was clean and service was good. Had different expectations regarding the ambiance/tables – more modern.
But food was delicious and the horchata was really creamy and tasted really good.
My mom ordered cafe de olla which was also very tasty.

What a wonderful place for brunch and the champagne flights are ever so special! The restaurant from the outside is unassuming, but once inside, bam, you get an eyeful! The food and service is fantastic and there are many mimosa flavors to choose from. I had the Watermelon Mimosa with the Chilaquiles, which were to die for! My friend had waffles and the peach mimosa. The service was super and the inside has beautiful and fun wall murals along with a selfie wall. Bon Appetit!

Food was delicious, the madres chilaquiles were really tasty and well portioned, the drinks were great and delicious. The servers were nice and answered all our questions on the different menu options. Will be returning to try the rest of their menu. The general ambiance of the restaurant was interesting, not sure if the name matches the aesthetic.
