We ordered shrimp pepper fry, beef fry, goat biriyani, salmon, paneer butter masala, and butter naan — and every single dish was packed with flavor.
The shrimp pepper fry was perfectly spiced with a bold, authentic taste. The beef fry was tender and cooked just right with rich seasoning. The goat biriyani was the highlight — fragrant, flavorful, and cooked beautifully with well-balanced spices. The salmon was fresh and nicely prepared, and the paneer butter masala was creamy and delicious. The butter naan was soft, warm, and paired perfectly with everything.
The portions were generous, the food came out fresh and hot, and the service was friendly and welcoming. The ambiance felt warm and inviting — a great place for family dinners or gatherings with friends.
Such a strong start for a new restaurant! Wishing them great success — we will definitely be back soon. ️✨
We were devastated when the original restaurant closed and are thrilled that they have reopened in a spacious new venue. The flavors continue to be the highlight. We had the vegetable pakora (bursting with flavor, light, and crispy), the chicken methi (smooth and aromatic), and the goat sukka (well spiced, with tender meat falling off the bone). The mango lassi is one of the best I’ve tried – not too sweet or watery, and with a hint of cardamom. The freshness of the ingredients and the care in preparation shine through, as well as the excellent balance of flavors. Truly, the chef is a master of the craft.
Service was friendly and attentive. Be prepared to wait a while for your meal – it’s because it is being made fresh, and it is well worth the wait.
Here’s what else you need to know:
– The new location is in Braddock Metro Center. Parking is in the nearby garage, which helpfully has a Sundara sign at the entrance. Parking normally is $13, but with validation from the restaurant it becomes $6.
– The restaurant is casual, spacious, and clean, with comfortable seating. It also looks like there is a buffet setup, although the buffet was not in operation when we visited.
We will be back!
We ordered the kanthari paneer — wonderfully flavorful with a nice spicy kick, just as you’d expect from kanthari. The butter naan, bullet naan, and tandoori roti were all super fresh and absolutely delicious.
The aloo gobi was packed with flavor, enhanced by curry leaves and a subtle touch of Kerala-style South Indian essence. The mango lassi was hands down the best we’ve had in DC, with a delicate hint of cardamom, and the lime soda was incredibly refreshing.
Since they’ve only just reopened, the full menu is still rolling out — especially the South Indian favorites like dosa, vada, and more. The staff was very friendly and welcoming too.
Definitely planning to visit again once everything is in full swing!
We also got masala dosa, chicken tikka dosa, chili paneer, and navrattan korma. Those are all tasted pretty good so want to definitely highlight the positive.
With missing food and not well prepared items for the order definitely does impact if we want to return especially when you’re paying high prices for food for not great service.
We wish we’d had room for dessert because they had a great selection.
