One of the best dining experiences we have had in the San Fernando Valley! Every dish from the Tanshio (grilled beef tongue) to the perfectly crisp Fish Tempura was outstanding. Agedashi Tofu was delicate, flavorful and my favorite. Even the Onion Salad and Garlic Edamame were unforgettable.
What truly sets Sola Izakaya apart is Miki, the owner, whose warmth and friendliness make you feel like a welcome guest in her home. A must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Japanese comfort food.

Came here to get some ramen. Of course I had to order garlic edamame and shishito peppers with it. Upon stepping in, I immediately felt cozy. Chatted with Miki the owner. She is very sweet and attentive. She was the only one on the floor serving and hardly stopped moving but she checked on me at the right times as if she had an instinct for it. Everything was delicious. I wanted to try many more menu items but was so full that I vowed to return. Looking forward to my next meal here!

Sola Izakaya offers some of the most authentic Japanese flavors in LA. Everything we tried was delicious, but the grilled beef tongue (Tanshio) stood out as the star—rich, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The ambiance is intimate and cozy, and you can feel the care put into every detail. Miki, the owner, treats guests like old friends, adding a personal touch that makes this place special. A fantastic restaurant that deserves all the praise. Highly recommended for date nights or relaxed dinners with friends. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a wonderful dining experience I had here. Very traditional Japanese dishes and flavors. I really enjoy the grilled dishes and the onigiri. The larger meals and noodles are good sized portions too. This place can get crowded during dinner hours, so don’t get surprised. The food is completely worth the wait.

Talk about the Japanese izakaya gem of the valley. The location is subtly tucked away in Ventura Blvd but it should have its own star on the Hollywood walk of Fame. The food is consistently great and the service is bar-none unbeatable. Quality at its finest. Come hungry, leave happy. Kanpai!

We tried multiple dishes and they were all delicious. Amazing. In general, even a good restaurant has some not too good menu item. Not so w this place. We never learned to enjoy beef tongues and this is the 1st time we thoroughly enjoyed it. I told her she must have some magic sprinkles on each dish. Kudos to Miki sang and her staff!!!

A great little spot for traditional Japanese food. That being said, I highly recommend the beef tongue, easily my favorite thing on the menu. The service is exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Japanese place: phenomenal. (And the bathrooms are nice, too!)

I have to say I was impressed. This is a gem of a restaurant. It is very authentic. The food was just like what you get in Tokyo. The tempura was excellent, especially the shrimp, which was really fresh. My favorite was the sauted Eggplant dish. Really tasty. The onigiri was also good. We had both the salmon and the spicy shrimp onigiri. Lastly the kara age (fried chicken) was as good as any I’ve had in Japan. Do yourself a favor and try this place.
Be aware, they don’t serve sushi. If you are looking for a real taste of Japan, this is it FYI, There is an underground parking lot.
