We did not realize there was no in-place seating at this restaurant, so that was a bit off-putting. But np. We aint fussy and found a lovely park with picnic tables n pavilions nearby. Menu is slick, animated and well-lit. The whole area is crammed with boxes, deep freezers and debris. I get being carry-out only and not having to deal with the mess and annoyance of customers is absolutely preferable to in-house. However, the general chaos here just feels — weird.
Aside from that, I got the seafood delight. SO got the garlic chicken. He was vexed he’d inadvertently chosen chicken that wasn’t deep fried *eye roll*
the meals didn’t take long to prepare. The owners/staff/IDK were exceptionally nice and offered plasticware and brought the meals to us soon as they were ready, so that was a very kind gesture.
My shrimp was fab and I loved all the fresh crunchy veggies.

I selected this place because an UPS employee recommended it.
THE FOOD IS AWEFUL!!!
As a Chicagoan, I’ve had delicious authentic Chinese food from the city’s Chinatown. Beijing is not delicious, tasty, nor is it authentic. The food was so bad that my 15-year-old son, who eats anything except olives, spit out the yellow rice and refused to eat more. I ordered beef fried rice for my husband. He said the beef ‘is hamburger and never order anything else from that place.’ No, they were not happy nor satisfied with their food. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I will.not be fooled a second time.

Originally I wanted Jade Garden, but found out they are closed on Sundays. I figured I would give Beijing a try and did a pick-up order. I went in and ordered, staff was very friendly, and they had the food ready in at 10 minutes. Everything was fresh and delicious, but it was a little pricer compared to some other places. I will definitely go back again. *Note: If you place an order through their own actual website, their prices are higher than if you just go in and order – that is why I gave 4 instead if 5 stars.

When I first moved to the area over 8 years ago, Bejing was my go to. The prices were great. The portions were great, and the overall food quality was great. Even during COVID, this restaurant somehow maintained their great quality, but these last few times I have gone, I find their food to be really sweet, over priced, and subpar taste. I ordered chicken and broccoli and my lunch bowl was mainly rice, not chicken like I requested. The rice used to be on one side while the lunch option was on the other, but the rice covered the whole bowl. I’m truly disappointed.

Beijing is my family’s favorite Chinese restaurant. We have been ordering takeout from Beijing for several years, and the food is consistently delicious. We have tried beef & broccoli, beef & veggies, beef & mushrooms, orange chicken, general Tso chicken, seafood delight, garlic shrimp, fried rice, and egg foo young. All of our food is AMAZING EVERY TIME. Portions are generous and vegetables are fresh. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it!

I love this place, have been coming here since I lived in wheeler for 7/8 yrs and I always get the sweet n sour chicken. Tonight my chicken was so gross. It was totally old and freezer burnt and then so rubbery and dry and just completely non edible. First time I tried your fried rice, won’t do that again, I’ll stick with your white rice. Same with the pork egg roll, you could tell it was old and Freezer burnt. Sweet n sour sauce tasted delicious and normal, just wish I had chicken to go with it. Please do better, and especially do better the next time I give you my money for your “good” food. Hopefully my husband’s beef lomein and spring rolls taste delicious to him when he gets home.

I’ll always recommend Bejing to anyone looking for a great meal in Portage. The food is amazing and the portions are generous. You can’t make a wrong choice when it comes to the menu. I only wish I had discovered them sooner!
