Fun and delicious. Being able to pick n choose your own hotpot combination was fun. It was expensive though. We’ll definitely be back, but it’s a bit pricey for a weekly visit.

Super easy to navigate as you select what goes in your hot pot. You then get to select what broth you want or do a stir fry. I loved my broth while my bestie got the stir fry option. I went medium heat while she got mild. It was a great place to visit for lunch. Yum!! Definitely going back. *And I had enough leftovers for a 2nd meal the next day.

I visited this hot pot restaurant and really enjoyed the whole experience. I loved that you can create your own bowl by choosing all your own toppings and picking the soup base you like, it makes the meal feel really personalized. They also have a good variety of ingredients, all fresh and well prepared. The price is very reasonable for how much food you get, and it definitely feels like it serves its worth. Overall, the food was tasty, the place was clean, and the service was friendly. I would definitely come back again!

A hot pot experience where you pay for the broth base and then by the pound for the ingredients. The cold ingredients are featured on a wall space and then you select your preferred options and place into a bowl.

A surprising amount of seafood options are available. It would have been nice if they had placed the seafood in a separate area to contain for cross contamination.

Some items are mislabeled but I think that was due to misplaced entries on the shelves.

The ingredients were fresh . The sauce bar had the typical ingredients. The broth bases were fine. Not overly flavorful but OK.

A food influencer was dining at the same time as me and you could watch the level of service rise for that group.

Overall the place was clean. The food was fine. Definitely look at the ingredients to make sure it matches the label otherwise you might experience a surprise. It was fine for a single experience but I doubt I would dine here again. My dining companion and I were just underwhelmed by it all.

It has a high ceiling and very clean aesthetic. I imagine when the place it full the noise factor will increase alot.

Fun & delicious!!
This place was great and we really enjoyed our meal. There were a ton of options, including lots for vegetarians. There is also a vegetarian broth option which was very good. I noticed a few other reviews mentioned that they felt the broth was not salty enough for their taste but what they failed to mention is that there is plenty of salt available so that you can customize to taste. There is also a sauce and toppings bar with close to 2 dozen sauce, spice and topping options such as chili oil, garlic, scallions, etc. Beware though, it’s really easy to end up with a huuuuge bowl of delicious soup!! 🙂 Definitely recommend and we’ll be back next time we’re passing through Portland!

My husband and I love hot pot and decided to come check out Big Hey Hot Pot after seeing it online. The first time we visited was on a Sunday afternoon. There is a tablet to sign-in, but they were not very busy so they seated us right away. Staff is incredibly nice and very helpful with answering questions about certain menu items they had. The restaurant was a decent size with a big open space. Clean and bright. They also have a bar when you first walk in but it didn’t look like it was open yet. After we were seated, my husband and I went to the hot pot station to fill our bowls with any item we wanted. They charge $14.99/lbs which is fairly decent compared to other places we’ve gone that also charge by the pound. I am not sure if we came after a busy lunch rush because the fridge with all the protein and veggies were not full and had empty slots. They have lots of seafood and protein items to choose from, but I wish they had a better selection of veggies. After you feel your bowl with everything you want, you get to the register where the weigh station is and pick your broth and pay. There are a few broth deletions to choose from. We did the chicken/pork broth and you can choose the spice level on that one as well. So good and really flavorful. We will definitely visit again soon. We’ve already visited twice in 2 weeks!

This spot has now become a new hot pot place. The place is spacious and clean. What’s nice about this spot is that you can choose what items you want and place it in your pot. They charge you by the weight. They will give you a few soup options as well as dry option for the food. We chose one soup (classic ma la tang) and a dry (spicy szechuan dry mix) option. The medium spice is good enough for me to enjoy. The mild spice dry pot actually would be equivalent to a medium spice (in my opinion). They also have some side appetizers you can order as well. We ordered the crispy fried chicken (kind of like popcorn chicken) and the mixed beef with spicy sauce. The fried chicken could’ve been better if there was some seasoning on it. The mixed beef was good. Overall, the flavor of the soup broth was very clean and enjoyable. I would come here again.

There is a new hot spot place in town and we have to check it out. We stopped by for lunch and our first impression that the place is pretty clean. There is sauce bar section. Similar to other self serve spot, you pick the pot, get the ingredients from the fridge, weight, choose your broth or dry spices, then pay.

I got the classic Malatang one, and my husband got dry pot. I got spicy but it wasn’t at all, but at least it wasn’t numbing either. My husband got medium but it was too much. The broth wasn’t as salty so it is a plus but the food was slightly undercooked. Overall, it was good, nothing mind-blowing, but solid enough if you’re craving hot pot.

Yummy! This hotpot spot is a steal for what you can get! A variety of vegetables, meats, etc. for an affordable price. I got my large pot for ~$18 and can make 2 more meals out of my left overs. Staff was super kind and service was quick. The fried squid was also delicious!

Gorgeous, very neat/clean, busy, fun atmosphere.
You’re given a big bowl, you pick all your ingredients; it’s then weighed (cost depends on weight) and then they cook it up for you.
If your not a spicy type of person, I’d suggest no spice in your broth or mild, which still had my nose run a bit haha.
