We’re convinced that Grand Haven is a happy place because of the number of ice cream shops there are. Norm’s is delicious. We had the turtle sundae, almond joy sundae and the peanut butter cup sundae. You can’t go wrong with ice cream and you can’t be unhappy! We were too excited and started eating so the pictures are ugly.

I was not expecting to get an incredible 100% vegan sundae from a place called Dairy Creme but here we are! The staff were super knowledgeable and helpful – they very kindly explained their dairy free options and which menu items could easily be made vegan. I was so happy with the whole experience!

Great vegan options at this cute local ice cream shop right on the lake! I was able to get a fully vegan sundae, including whipped cream, which was probably the highlight for me! I got a strawberry sundae and my boyfriend got a black cherry ice cream smoothie which he loved!

Amazing sundaes! The location on the water is so beautiful! My sister and I got the freighter sundae and their famous turtle sundae, both 10/10!

This review is for Norm’s – not the former historic Dairy Creme as most of the other reviews listed here with Google. It’s a new business that just opened in summer of 2025 – same owners as Norm’s in east town of Grand Haven. They took over this City-owned spot when the former ice cream business owners retired last year.

This was my first time to experience what Norm’s on the channel is all about. I was expecting to see and hopeful, that the new business kept at least a couple if not more, classic menu items from the original Dairy Creme as a tribute (they are using the same name after all). Maybe I missed them? Instead, the first largest sign that caught my attention is about what not to ask for (switch cup size or something). Nothing real special struck me on the menu that says ‘welcome to the waterfront in Grand Haven’. I defaulted quickly to their blizzard (DQ branded name). Plenty of okay ice cream for the size filled the cup, but there was about 1 teaspoon of fun mixed in. I could barely find it.

Overall, the teen staff was nice and quick, although there wasn’t a line whatsoever on a steaming hot day. I was also surprised to see two prices for everything – cash or credit. That’s just odd. If you need to charge a fee for credit to make up the shortfall – bake it in.

I’m willing to give Norm’s west another shot, although my first time was a bit blurry like my menu choice pic. Maybe there’re working on their rhythm as a new business in a much busier and touristy area? Summer is here – I’m already missing my weekly ‘Seth’s Favorite’.

Really excellent and unexpectedly awesome vegan vanilla soft serve! Unfortunately, we were told their whipped cream was not vegan so we did not get that and that the chocolate syrup that was vegan is Hershey’s syrup.

This is my go to spot every Sunday! Their turtle sundae puts everyone to shame! The rest of their menu is fantastic as well. Their regular food is hot and fresh. Great hot dogs and nachos. You can’t beat the service either. I’ll continue making this a Sunday routine.

Great little spot to grab ice cream while you’re walking along the Grand River Boardwalk, watching the fountain show, or just to enjoy a treat. Prices are reasonable give the location and quality. I love the Boardwalk Turtle, but sometimes the dole whip is a great lighter option.

My go to place for soft serve ice cream in GH! One of the few places you can still find the flavor burst soft serve. Definitely something for everyone!! It’s almost impossible to go wrong with any of the recommendation!

Edit: Now under new ownership it appears. Ice cream is still the same and delicious, but the sizes have drastically changed in the last year. A warning would have been nice before I ordered a medium, which turned out to be at least an entire pint of ice cream. At least they gave me a bowl and a spoon to go with my cone.
