It’s been awhile since I ate here and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I got mega sick a few hours after I ate. This lasted throughout the night and into this early morning.

What caused my sickness? Not being a doctor, I can only assume it was the cole slaw. It was very wet as you can see in the photos and not very cold. I had a few bites and didn’t eat anymore. For that reason I gave it a 2 stars.

It could also have been the liquid tarter sauce. I couldn’t believe how it poured out of the container. I put some by itself on a plate so you can see it. Again, I try everything. It was nasty and once again not cold for something that should have been. It was strange because they brought the cocktail sauce in a little cup but the tarter in a squeeze bottle. It should have been the other way around considering the cocktail did NOT have to be cold but the mayo based tarter, did.

The bean soup was tasty as I remembered. Once you have had it you go there for it 🙂

The fish was cooked so darn good I want the recipe myself.

The hushpuppies were the perfect size, but dry on the inside and greasy on the outside. They were also fried too dark for me.

Frog legs, French fries, tore up and split shrimp was odd but all that tasted as it should.

BE AWARE:
I asked if I could sub a baked potato for the fries, she said yes then charged me over $3 for the BP. And no, she did not tell me there was an upcharge for the potato.

I had originally given one star since I got so sick. I added another one for the other food and another important element. The owner. This guy was very polite. He also bussed the tables and greeted guest. I was so taken about positively by him that I did not want to give just one star.

Now, please note that they are closing next week and remodeling. Their intention is to re-open next year.

There is a lot about that building he knows that we don’t, and it has to be brought up to the new millennium. This tells me he is a very smart man too.

Having said that, I would eat there again but Oneill.noymest the cole slaw unless they change their policy on keeping it cool.

We are from Texas and decided to extend our vacation to Lake Ouachita by traveling through Louisiana. We decided to camp at Lake Bistineau, and saw signs for this local seafood resturaunt. We are so glad we stopped in! We ordered catfish and boiled shrimp, and we were not dissappointed! The buffet has bean soup, coleslaw, pickled green tomatoes, and just puppies to go with what you order. The flavors were excellent, and the views were beautiful! We will defiantly go back if we are ever in the area again 🙂

Brutally honest. The wife and I went here for dinner. I had extremely high expectations as I had heard nothing but good about this place. The view is beautiful and I mean if you like the water and just being out in the woods like we do you’ll definitely enjoy the view. The food is another story. Mostly fried. My wife loved her steak and baked potato. As for my plate the fish had a weird flavor to it. The frog legs were the best I’ve ever had. unfortunately The batter was super thick so everything taste batter. The smell in the bathroom was pretty bad. It was like toilet it smelled like water damage.

Really neat place close to Bistineau State Park. The owner is really trying, but he doesn’t have great wait staff. The wait was long bc our waitress was frazzled. Steak was cooked perfectly but under-seasoned. Grilled veggies tasted like they were marinated in lighter fluid. Everything from the bean bar was delish. Fried fish was great.
Shrimp platter was good too.

This place don’t even deserve one star. We had a big group waited 15 minutes to get drinks. Waited 45 minutes to get food. One person in our party did not get food until everyone else was done. We had to get it to go. The waiter at the end told us to be sure and take care of her on tips. Very disappointed. It used to be awesome 3 years ago.
