If I lived nearby, I would visit The Barn often! I love this kind of place!! I think you’ll enjoy it too if you enjoy small, cozy, homey, friendly and yummy! Easy to find on a primary road. It is small and not showy, so you could miss it (but don’t). Lots of seats around the serving counter or grab a booth near the windows. Small but tidy restroom is available. Service was small-town friendly, very pleasant and speedy. Food was very good. I had the Country fried steak, hash browns, wheat toast and scrambled eggs. It was soooo good! I took some pie to go but it didn’t seem like their best effort. I would definitely order pie again though because I think it is pretty killer on the regular (and inexpensive). Overall price is very fair but it is cash only, so don’t plan to use your credit card. They have an ATM so guys like me aren’t left without an option.

I absolutely love maid rites. This place was cute and clean. The maid rites were double the price of the place I’m used to but they were a little bigger in size. However, the flavor was not as good.

My buddy and I stopped in for a bite the other day. I got the cheesewhich maid rite which was very delicious! Very affordable and good vibes inside. Excellent service.
I shall be back, probably in the near future.

The eggs were fine but the biscuit and gravy was of very poor quality. Greasy spoon would be the best way I could probably describe this place. They are known for their pies. I got a piece of lemon pie to go with meringue on top. That was so bad. I threw it out after just a few bites

Look at my long years of reviews-this is how you can know truth on here.
THIS IS NOT THE MADE-RITE YOU GREW UP WITH ALL ACROSS IOWA & AROUND
The very fact that they DO NOT KNOW WHAT (wet or dry) is should say it all. Then they do not have fries or shakes.
Could not be more disappointed after spending a ridiculous $35 for 4 sandwiches and driving 3hours round trip.
Save your money & wait until you are back south and near a TRUE MADE-RITE
I’m not some hack that just gets on to write negative things about places. Look at my more than lengthy years on here & reviews.

Perfect small town diner that my grandma would have loved and I still do. Breakfast and lunch served all day, classic Maid Rites, delicious homemade pies, and cheerful servers who call you sweetie and it’s just fine.

Always good. Always packed. Nice staff. They feed ya, not fool ya.

Well it’s no longer Maid -Rite, the place has been sold and the new owners need a little more practice. Should have kept Maid -Rite. The biscuits and gravy tasted funny and the service was rather slow and rude.

A blast from the past, have eaten here for 47 years, if you ever watched the television show Rosanne when they had the loose meat diner you will know where they found the idea. Actually called maid rite eats. They also have great breakfasts, we were never around later because we came up to fish.
