This place is a hidden gem. Lakeside Street Coffee House has a little bit of everything, and that’s what makes it awesome. You walk in and there’s a quiet space if you want to study or work. Then there’s another area where people are talking and hanging out — totally different vibe. You can sit outside right on the water, or head downstairs where they’ve got these cushy chairs and a chill lounge setup. The decor’s cool, a little artsy, a little quirky, just feels good to be in.

Sometimes they’ve got live music, which makes it even better. I had the pesto melt — and yeah, it was really good. Solid food, not just your typical coffee shop snacks.

Overall? Good food, great atmosphere, and enough different spaces to fit whatever mood you’re in. I’ll definitely be back.

This is a very unique coffee establishment that you do not see very often. The writing orders by hand on prices of paper and passion from welcoming stand to the bar staff is rarity to see. They do use square to take payment but do not utilize to create orders which square is designed for. This makes things slower by a lot.

The food came pretty tasty, specifically grilled cheese with garlic and fresh tomatoes was very good. The lattes also great.

Plenty of street parking around the place. Indoors and outdoors seating (when warm). Very simple place with no extra special ambiance. All chairs in this place are random and seem more like collection of random items than decor.

My mom and I needed a place to relax and regroup after a morning at UW Medical. This was perfect! Quiet, friendly chatter as people worked or visited; the staff was personable and professional, the view and the vibe was peaceful. Our hazelnut lattes were so delicious we ordered seconds and the breakfast bowls were out of this world. We’ll definitely be back.

While the prices are a little high, i can appreciate that this is a small business who’s truly making everything in house.
I love writing here.

A really pleasant business, in a wonderfully unexpected location. You open the door expecting whatever you’ve imagined a coffee shop to look like and are immediately put at ease with the quaint not cramped first open space where you place your coffee order. The scenery is nice, and there is ample sitting in the other rooms that reveal themselves as you continue to take in this highly recommended, great vibe having shop!

Stopped in for a show on a Friday night, what a cute little shop! Beautiful view of the lake, had great beer choices. Would definitely come back for coffee and food offerings.

Went to this coffee shop on a nice Saturday morning. It was very nice with a super cute interior and plenty of seating but quite busy. I gave it only a 4/5 because I find it odd it closes so early on a Saturday and because the service was a little slow due to what seems like slight understaffing. All the employees were very nice however and definitely working to get everything done asap. I ordered a double shot cappuccino and it was decent, had a good amount of foam but was a little milky. My friends got a variety of breakfast sandwiches and also thought they were average. Their lattes were good however. Overall, cute place with cute vibes but not 10/10 food and drinks. Will (probably) be back.

What a great old building converted into a cafe! Plenty of seating in this historic building. I had the Ham and cheddar breakfast sandwich. Delicious! Their lattes are excellent. 5 stars.

Don’t come here if you think you’ll be able to get on and get out. Not sure if we came during a one off day but it took 20 minutes waiting on line to order two coffees then another 10 minutes to get our coffee. The operations were terrible. Two people were making coffee and food. The person taking orders at the host stand was also running orders to people. There was another person who seemed to run an order out every once in a while. The place easily holds 100 people with two large rooms, a basement and outdoor seating. I don’t know how you’re supposed to be effective with one person making coffee and one person making food. The property is nice but they need to find a way to be much more efficient. Mocha was 7/10.

Great neighborhood, nice physical space. Adequate coffee is the highlight. Their bakery supplier dumped them, so the only edible food is gone. I’ve tried nearly everything and found no flavor or texture. The chicken curry tastes like baby food and the replacement baked goods taste like mush. The food is merely unappealing, the service is actively negative. The staff generally seems upset about the tasks before them and upset about the presence of customers. The management is next level. They go the extra mile to make you feel unwelcome and uncomfortable (hence the one star for atmosphere). For thirty years, I have eaten out five to ten times a week and no place has worked so hard to be so unpleasant. So much effort goes into being so consistently unpleasant in so many ways to so many people. Whatever goal this place is pursuing, there must be some way of achieving it without being so aggressively unkind. If people come in happy and leave unhappy, this place is not doing a good job. Over the last couple dozen times I’ve been here, what was bad has gotten worse. If you have a worse restaurant experience, it probably will not be in Dane County. (Clarification: I visit for food and drinks; I cannot speak to live music offerings.)
