Great place! Stopped for lunch on the way back from Thanksgiving. Great soup, and the Hurricane Sticks are worth trying. Dawn and her staff have a wonderful place here. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

Hurricane Dawn’s in Pella is kind of a throw back to the old country inn or road house. There just isn’t much in Pella, or around it really, but that’s the appeal. Geographically speaking it should probably be called Tornado Dawn’s, but that just doesn’t have the same ring to it. Anywho, it’s basically a typical Wisconsin bar with an add on dining room. Of course, it’s all about the fish fry, and I’m all about all you can eat. So, what’s a boy to do, but order up and order seconds a few minutes later? They feature snow cod which are long thin strips with a very firm texture. They are lightly hand breaded and mine were served piping hot with a helping or fries. The other included sides were rye bread and cole slaw. The AYCE applies to fish only, but they brought out four more fillets, so I was plenty full. Of course, they offer other fish choices, burgers, and pizza too. The staff were friendly and aimed to please. So, if you are hungry and want to cross some county lines or maybe even a time line, for that matter, rev up your horsies and ride. Yee-haw! Oh, no you didn’t…

Dawn’s is, personally, a place I will always drive out of my way to go to. Her food is always affordable and yummy. From her Friday night fish fry to the tacos on Thursday night this place has specials almost everyday they are open. Always a pleasure to be so close to the river too, drive down the road and you have a nice cool spot to even have a picnic if you wanted.
