What a GREAT place. So many great options of food and drink. Our first time here and it won’t be our last! We had crab Rangoon to start. The only place within 30 miles of Loris that doesn’t use those thick chewy wonton wrappers. Chef Laura’s are nice & crispy! Hubby had the Scallop/ Shrimp Hibachi and I had the Philly Cheesesteak. Everything was REALLY tasty! Real food, real plates, silverware and glasses. Chef Laura was even out helping the staff seat guests and clearing off booths! She is such a pleasant person….with the biggest SMILE!!!!!!

We came to Chef Laura’s for lunch and we were so happy with our meal. We had the crab rangoon, shrimp and chicken hibachi, and the green curry. It all was delicious! The service was great and very fast. We are excited to come back!

Absolutely outstanding! This restaurant is a true hidden gem, owned and operated by a chef whose years of experience shine through in every bite. From start to finish, our meal was nothing short of exceptional. Everything is made from scratch using fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the flavors are perfectly balanced and beautifully seasoned. The grouper bites were tender and lightly breaded, the margarita was wonderful, and the Mango sticky rice dessert was heavenly. It’s rare to find this level of culinary excellence in a local restaurant, and we can confidently say it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Highly, highly recommend—do not miss out on this incredible dining experience!

I was hoping to love this place, to have another local spot to go but it was pretty flavorless and dry. The best part about it was the rice. The portions of meat were very small, they mostly give you rice. The Mahi Mahi was very dry and flavorless, the teriyaki chicken was very tiny and not much flavor. My husband wanted a side of oysters but had to order the platter to get them, and it was a tiny amount. We also sat and watched 2 other tables who arrived after us get there food first. I really hope they can do well, the owner is very nice.

I just got home from Chef Laura’s with my husband. Walking in the first thing that hits you is the overpowering smell of mustiness…. Kinda like grandma’s attic. Stood there waiting because there were no signs indicating whether or not we should seat ourselves and there wasn’t a host or hostess. We were finally seating by a little girl of approximately 8-10 years of age. From that point we waited 15 minutes before we ever seen our waitress. She got our drinks and took our order. We ordered the potato skins for an appetizer. My husband ordered the 4 piece chicken with French fries and grilled vegetable that we were told was squash and onions. The waitress asked if he wanted white or dark meat and he went with dark. I ordered a blackened chicken sandwich with fries and grilled vegetables. We waited almost an hour to get our food. Meanwhile Chef Laura is cleaning tables, seating customers, chatting with people at the door, and walking out with plates full of food and unable to figure out where they go. The “chef” was everywhere except where she should have been. As I said almost an hour before our entrees came out BUT our appetizer hadn’t come yet. And the waitress delivering our food wasn’t even our waitress!!! I told her our appetizer hasn’t even arrived yet. We let that nice waitress know that the vegetables were missing (they gave my husband green beans instead of grilled vegetables). His chicken was soggy and very greasy, with grease puddling on the plate. my grilled vegetables didn’t come out and my blackened chicken was not blackened and tasted like sawdust. My tomato was sliced with part of the stem still in it. Almost finished eating when the appetizer came and you could tell it had been sitting there in the window quite a long time because the cheese was congealed. By that time we’re waiting for our original waitress to get our check and a box for leftover chicken (to feed to our dog). 10 minutes later I went and got my own Togo box and we proceeded to the cash register where I told the waitress who took care of us she was the best thing in that restaurant. Of course “chef Laura “ was at the register instead of being in the kitchen cooking. We told her honestly how the entire experience went. She blamed it all on the wait staff which is unprofessional and also inaccurate. The fault was all on the her as the chef. At that point our original waitress finally showed her face again. I’m pretty sure she was out back smoking or something. Never got checked on by her or had our drinks refilled. Needless to say we will NEVER go back!! I hope that nice waitress that delivered our food ends up working somewhere else where her employer will lift her up and be supportive and where she will be appreciated and have the opportunity to be successful! I should also add that “Chef Laura” charged us full price even though we didn’t get everything we were supposed to get and most of what we got wasn’t edible.

We left another restaurant because of the wait and decided to try Chef Laura’s for the first time since we had never been here. I order Pad Kee Mao that had ingredients written out but when I started eating it, there was something off in flavor. There was nothing on the menu that showed tomatoes in this dish but it had large slices of tomatoes that were like stewed and flavor in everything. The others at our table were almost finished with theirs dishes when our waitress returned and asked about it. No excuse, no checking on, and even though I had all of the tomatoes removed from it and ate on a few noodles and scallops, no discount off the price of my part and no apologies.
Sadly, not worth a return visit.

What a surprise! Wow! Just wow! The food was wonderful. I had the grilled mahi with green beans and dirty rice. The mahi was cooked to perfection and I’ve never had green beans a good. Fresh and very uniquely seasoned. For dessert, the Thai Fried Banana was out of this world delicious. We’re only in town a few more days, but we’ll be back before we leave for home. What we tried on a whim turned out to be a favorite. Thank you Chef Laura!
