Came today for the first time and had the daily lunch special – beef tips over mashed potatoes. It was so incredibly good! Love the atmosphere, love music, and all the workers who greeted us. We will be bringing coworkers back for many more lunches!

I first walked into this place on 03/21/2025, and it was terrific. The atmosphere was great, and the employees were great to talk and deal with. The service could not be beat. The food is out of this world. The flavor and taste can not be beat. They also have a great buffet. I highly recommend everyone stop by this place and try them out, whether you’re local or out of town.

Pop’s Place is a “General Store and Restaurant” just as advertised. It is a large venue, not unlike a school cafeteria. The atmosphere is not conducive for an intimate date. But it’s not about the ambiance that generates repeat visits. It is about country cooking with soul that brings in all the curious as well as the regular customers and “families.” Regulars know to choose from the daily specials that are served cafeteria-style. You can order from the menu. However, not if you are in a hurry. Eating in is preferable to taking out. Customers stand in line waiting patiently to be served, because they understand the quality of the food being served. Pop’s is not a fast food “chain” restaurant. It is a neighborhood, family-owed meeting place for people who love supporting our Pineville business community, and sharing great country cooking with our neighbors. Highly Recommended.

Pay at the entrance then get yourself a drink and a seat. If you choose the buffet you can get in line. If you ordered from the regular menu, they’ll bring it to you. Very relaxed atmosphere with live music. The fried catfish was delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and busy keeping everyone happy. I can see this becoming a hang out for locals.

These people are like my family… This was my second time eating here and it only gets better!! Live music with Southern soul food perfection.. I got the steak dinner this time but the buffet is ALWAYS ON POINT!! And you pay at the door so there’s no confusion on who ordered what…ITS PAYS HOW IT WEIGHS!

If you’re ever in Central Louisiana then spend ya money here! Support LOCAL FOOD VENDORS X RESTAURANTS! No need for Mickey D’s, BK or anything like that! Get something that will stick to your stomach x warms your soul!

The food was great. The service was, without a doubt, the worse I have ever experienced. We chose to order from the menu instead of getting the buffet. Big mistake. It took at least 45 minutes to get our meal. And we didn’t get what we ordered. The couple with us, never got their food. They finally had to get their meal to go. The manager did refund their money. We won’t be going back.

It’s a restaurant with a few ‘general’ merchandise items, things that can be had elsewhere nearby. The place has character; what it needs is a special reason to visit and shop other than just food, if it’s going to bill itself as a general store. The lunch was homegood, cafeteria style items. You pay before you get your plate. There was a band playing, and thank goodness they were loungey and mellow, and it made for a pleasant dining experience. I thought the greens and the cornbread were fantastic.

I ordered off of the buffet line and my baked chicken with salty you could not eat it the rest of the stuff on that was good. They do not wear any hair nets or wear gloves when fooling with food.
