I am a year round local and I have to say I was super excited for a new breakfast place to fill the dearly missed Tribune. However, once they released their menu I was very disappointed. Unfortunately, due to the high prices of this place I cannot afford to eat here. This looks like it’s either the most or one of the most expensive breakfast spots in Leelanau County. I hope people who choose to eat here are getting their moneys worth!

I also don’t respect how both owners have handled the criticism of customer reviews on here. Attacking and threatening (*correction- calling them names) a customer is no way to go about handling business in the food service industry, especially in a very small town. I will not be eating here due to this.

*I have set foot in this establishment and once I saw the prices I walked out. I saw a side of bacon was $8 and oatmeal was $16. I decided to go to the grocery store next door.

lastly, you are more than welcome to defend your business and family, that’s your prerogative. I’m just trying to leave an honest review about how I feel. Criticism can be helpful if you look at it as a useful tool to progress forward and not just as a negative comment.

The food, staff, and experience is excellent! We’ve gone almost every weekend since they opened and enjoyed everything on the menu. Highly recommend Jeannine’s for a quality breakfast experience!

Came here on Sunday over the holiday weekend. Dining room was full. Waited 15 minutes for a table.

Service was efficient and friendly. Food took a little while coming from the kitchen, but was well worth the wait. Patty Melt is GOOD.

Atmosphere is cozy with many people in the small space.

$57 for 2 people for breakfast is crazy. Yes, we saw the prices after we sat down, no, we didn’t want to just walk out, but can understand why there was only 1 other table. We had high hopes that our food would atleast fancy our taste buds, but that too, didn’t happen. Our choices lacked flavor and seasoning. The only positive was the lemon pancakes, but for the price, they were small. Not sure how this place will remain in business with $16 oatmeal. We wanted to love it, but, we definitely won’t be going back. The environment was also a bit “cold” and uninviting, Northports charm is warm and friendly, it felt very business transaction for a small little place.

We miss Tribune, which was replaced by Jeannine’s Little Kitchen. The food is not good but what was most disturbing was being charged nine dollars for a small glass of milk. When we questioned it, seeing the price only AFTER we received our bill, the owner got an attitude, saying that it was organic, that it cost her $9 FOR A GALLON, and that they are “bringing it to the people.” What they should’ve brought to the people was advance notice that a 9-ounce glass of milk was going to cost nine dollars (drink prices were suspiciously absent from the menu UNTIL FIVE DAYS AFTER I UPLOADED THIS REVEW). Our breakfast for two people ended up costing $57.97. Of course, we will never go back. Too bad that they are taking up such a good spot in the small, fantastic town of Northport.

The owner responded to my review by calling me a liar, threatening to sue me, and claiming that I am harassing them on facebook, which is blatantly false. Here is my comment on his Instagram account:

I don’t own a business and never have, but even I know that you de-escalate rather than escalate issues with dissatisfied customers in public forums. Here’s an example: “We appreciate your business and are sorry there was a price misunderstanding. We’ve been here only 10 days and are still working out the kinks. Come on back for a milk on us!” Do you see how that would have satisfied us and shown prospective customers that you are reasonable and eager to succeed? Instead your wife/partner called her customers liars when they didn’t lie, then ironically fabricated a story about a screaming child with us that she fed for free while we were on our phones, then threatened to sue US for posting a review she deserved. She did not tell us in advance that the milk was $9, then defended it saying that a gallon cost her $9. Do you realize this means that you are making $128 on every gallon of organic milk you sell? Do you think that’s fair? Yes, we left a tip, meaning that our breakfast for TWO people cost almost $60. People leave tips so quibbling about the meal price seems silly and desperate. I do not wish to be mean-spirited, but I researched you on the internet and noted that you have worked at six restaurants in the past five years. Your wife/partner had serious bedhead when we visited your establishment, and you left your dog in your car in 19 degree temperatures. What would a reasonable person make of this? Exactly what we have.

Way to start a new business.

Had the salmon Benedict, OJ and a coffee. Food was on point, side salad with the entree was refreshing as were the crispy hash. Loved that it didn’t need a dash of salt or pepper-seasoned great out of the kitchen. Portion size was great, left full, happy and wanting to try more of the menu.( Full until dinner:)

Jeannine treated me great, she was attentive but not overbearing, almost like she could read my mind on what I needed before having to ask.

The remodel sets the vibe, warm, welcoming and fresh

Would highly recommend and will personally be returning with friends and family to share
