This is the best fried food I’ve ever had and a perfect birthday dinner for my wife and I. We got a half pound of blue gill, catfish tenders, walleye, fried okra, and fried mushrooms. Everything was made fresh and to order so the food was fried perfectly and flaky. All of the food tasted great with the hot sauce from the restaurant. I should have asked for extra hot sauce.

We were craving some fried fish so we found this place in the area! It was owned by a cool grandpa. He was so welcoming .
Some people might not like it but I personally liked that I could season my fish and wings as how I wanted it to taste! Fish nuggets were dangerously good. French fries were so yummy also!

I just LOVE Terry… and his Blue Gil’s!!! Big Wings and Things is a hidden gem on Franklin! The food is fire and the service is even better. Terry Johnson, the owner, runs this place with heart. He treats every customer with respect, makes you feel like family, and ensures everyone leaves full and happy.
The Blue Gil’s? Seasoned to perfection, crispy outside, juicy inside. The sauces are bold and packed with flavor whether you like it sweet, spicy, or somewhere in between, there’s something for you. And don’t sleep on the sides!
This isn’t just a wing stop it’s a community staple where customer service still matters. You can tell Terry takes pride in his business and genuinely cares about the people he serves. Friendly vibes, generous portions, and consistently great food. Support local and taste the difference.

Absolutely a wonderful experience! The owner was extremely kind and the food was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend the fried okra and fried mushrooms! Also the fired blue gill and walleye were outstanding!

my mother took me to Grand Rapids to see some gardens (nice) and some architecture (smaller than it seemed in the pictures). with few expectations, i tagged along, and when we bothered the nice lady at the tourism office about where to get some good fried fish, she sent us here without hesitation, but under her breath so her boss wouldn’t hear her sending tourists down MLK Jr Blvd.
the building was maybe a church at some point? fresh coat of paint, plenty of parking wheelchair ramp, who am i to ask questions. it’s a takeout joint, for the most part, but moms and i sat at the counter. seems like we’re barely there 5 minutes when our huge baskets of walleye, ocean perch and fried okra come out. refined frying, excellent cuts of fish and a minimum of deeply flavorful batter; the fish tasted like it had been on the line that morning, and i can’t remember better okra bites.
TJ, the proprietor, treated us like family, and gifted us two slices of incredible lemon pound cake on our way out; it was so good mom and i both held it up to my grandmother’s recipe.
enough said, get thee to Big Fish Wings & Things imminently.

We have had a long time “go to” fish place. Well, that just changed! We have NEVER had take out fish as good as the catfish nuggets that we just got tonight! Huge chunks of catfish perfectly fried! Moist and meaty with a nice crunch. Incredible flavor!
And if that wasn’t enough, the owner; Terry; is very welcoming and friendly with exceptional customer service! We have a new ” Go To” to satisfy our fish cravings! I’m a great cook, but why bother to cook catfish myself when I can get 5 star flavor and service here! Do yourself a big favor and go get some fish!

It was soooo fresh! cooked right in front of us. I got the wing-dings, my mom and fiancé got chicken tenders and fries. It was fireee!! The homemade sauce is bomb. The man who was working was down to earth too. We came from out of town during a graduation!!
