The clear standout was the ropa vieja tacos—packed with flavor and honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. I immediately regretted not ordering the full ropa vieja dish. The empanadas were very good, just overshadowed by the tacos. Tres leches followed as the next favorite. The tamal was good, just not the highlight.
The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and being in South Beach makes it easy to find. My hotel gave me a 15% discount card, and while there’s a 20% service fee, Paula’s great service made it feel well worth it.
On the pricier end for a Cuban restaurant, but I’d definitely come back. Highly recommend.
Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome. The octopus I ordered was amazingly flavorful, and the cherry tomatoes added a perfect touch that brought the dish to life. The beef tacos were delicious too, with fresh avocado that made each bite so satisfying.
The sliders we ordered for the kids were great, and the paella was beautifully made — it even reminded my husband of his grandmother’s cooking! Everything tasted so authentic and full of heart.
Just a heads-up: we were told that their tap is unfiltered, so you’ll need to purchase bottled water (about $10). And a 20% gratuity is already included. South Beach thing pricing!
Overall, a wonderful dining experience with genuine flavors and great service.
We also tried the fried pork chunks, which had wonderfully crispy edges while staying moist, tender, and full of flavor on the inside.
I’ve been on a mission to find the best Cuban sandwich, and at this point, Havana Vieja is winning. The sandwich featured tender, flavorful ham; moist, perfectly seasoned pork; melted Swiss cheese; and crunchy pickles with yellow mustard, all layered inside fresh Cuban bread. The meat ratio was perfect. Truly the best Cuban sandwich I’ve had.
Our server, Paula, was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was lively and charming, especially with the cute outdoor seating. This spot is definitely a must visit and be sure to ask for Paula. She’s one of the best!
