A terrific little Indian restaurant that serves authentic cuisine from across India. Family run, our welcome couldn’t have been warmer, the service attentive but discrete and our food served piping hot. Our starters of Bhajis and Samosa with a mint dipping sauce were super tasty and our main courses delicious. We ordered Pilau Rice, Garlic and Peshwari Naans, Chicken Jalfrezi and Chicken Madras -spiced to our request, good quantity and freshly made. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be back. Well done to the chef and his family.

This small, family-run restaurant is full of charm and character.

It is honestly one of the best Indian dishes I have had, with all the flavours and the right amount of spices. The menu is not full of lots of dishes just all good dishes on the menu with something people may not have tried.

I would highly recommend going down and trying this for yourself and supporting this amazing place and let the food do the talking for it’s self also try the puddings sooooo good. Great value for money and the service was great get you self down and try this place out

Come here. We’ve eaten in many Indian restaurants and this is right up here with the best. Lovely atmosphere, attentive service without being obtrusive and just the best food. When we come back to Plymouth, we will be eating here again.
First class.

Jalwa was highly recommended by friends and it did not disappoint. It exceeds your usual ‘curry houses’ and is certainly a more high end ‘bistro’, serving authentic and delicious curries that are hard to find elsewhere. Despite this, it was still very reasonably priced and we were pleasantly surprised when the bill came!

The wait staff were delightful and very attentive, and happy to explain items on the menu.

We ordered a Lamb Bhuna, Chicken Murg Kalimirch, a Masala Dosa and some Garlic Naan and it was all just SO GOOD.

I definitely recommend a visit to Jalwa, and it’s sometimes a bit quieter in the week if you’re looking for a more chill evening out.

5/5, a must visit in Plymouth

The food was so good, best Indian restaurant in Plymouth for sure. My friend who is from Kerala it’s the best Dosa she’s had in the UK so far. And the prices are really reasonable too !!

A random choice on a business trip. Handy for the historic Barbican area. A lovely welcoming staff team. Excellent tasty food, seasoned to order for this unadventurous visitor. Wine was good too. Excellent value for money and a nice short walk back to the Leonardo hotel.

Jalwa Bistro is by far the best Indian curry I’ve ever had in Plymouth, and I’ve been in the area for over 10 years and tried them all. These are authentic Indian as opposed to Bangladeshi flavours and clearly produced in their kitchen, not bought-in. Totally different flavours in each dish. Their vegetarian DOSA was amazing – the best I’ve had, even including in London. I wish I’d photographed it, it was also really well presented. For mains we had a Chicken Chettinad, which was awesome, very tender, and a Lamb Rogan Josh – very tasty and well-spiced. We will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes!

A great restaurant with a tasty selection of food. I’d highly recommend asking for a Mango lassi, it’s not on the menu but is delicious! We’ll definitely be going back!

Reliable, flavorful, and genuinely satisfying, this spot never fails.
