I walked in on a Saturday around 12pmto get oxtail and their customer service was amazing. I got oxtail, rice &peas with oxtail patty. They were both really good, the patty was very flaky and sweet. I sat to eat and the oxtail was really good , they used a balsamic rice and I loved every bite.

I recently stopped by this place for lunch and was created by to very polite young men. One stepped from behind the register to assist me so that I didn’t have to way inline. I ordered a Medium Oxtail with white rice and they told me the price ($18)it make sure that it was okay with me. I was sold with the signage outside that read “Known for the best jerk chicken.” In that area that’s a very bold statement to make. The place was well maintained inside. I tried their strawberry lemonade, I don’t think it’s a fixed item. One of the servers mentioned to me that they periodically switch up the flavors. The I’d rate the drink a 5/5 and the Oxtail a 3.5/5. It wasn’t terrible, I just expected a lot more. Next time I’ll go for what they’re known for. They also have a huge selection of various cake slices, I didn’t try any but I certainly plan on trying it in the future. Atmosphere I’d give them a 4.2/5 and a 5/5 for customer service

The food here is absolutely Delicious. With a capital D. I was in the area, and I was looking for a quick bite. I’ve never been to that side of Brooklyn before, so I was unsure of the type of food they had in the area. Then I saw this place, and I had to go inside. Super clean, and so much light. Even on a gloomy day Starspice lights up. The women dishing out the food, was so nice and friendly. I could write all day of how friendly everyone was in this restaurant. But my review is about the food. And let me tell you. The food here is super delicious. It definitely doesn’t disappoint. You can tell it was fresh food that they made that day. All of the season and spices aligned. I wish I lived closer so I can order everyday. If I’m back in the area I will definitely be returning. Because this place is definitely a treasure. Oh and If you’re Guyanese it has all of the great dishes from Guyana. And it’s 100% authentic.

This restaurant is right in my neck of the woods! Used to be called McBeans, but now rebranded as “StarSpice”.
The other day I was given the curry chicken and fried rice and it was pretty decent. The rice was very good and carried the meal it alone I would give a 8/10.
From trying that I was eager to go inside and try more. I went recently and saw that they have jerk pork (which I love), but only on Fridays and Saturdays. Ironically it was a Friday, so I was lucky. The restaurant itself was very clean and there is some seating so you can sit indoors.
I’ve also been looking for a place that sells Chow mein as well and I was glad that it was sold here. I got the jerk pork, Chow me in (had to pay extra) and salad. The portion was very generous. They packed it up tight and added condiments. I even got to try a piece of their sorrel cake, and it was GOOD. The jerk pork I would give an 8/10 and the chow mein a 7/10.
Upon getting home, I was anxious to try it. With the first bite, it was very tender and fell off the bone. It was well seasoned and tasty. I took it slowly because I didn’t want to finish it fast. The Chow me in was okay, I feel like it needed a bit more seasoning.
Overall, I would come back here! And did you know they have a $5 lunch special?!? From Monday – Saturday?! That’s amazing!

I would often order breakfast from this restaurant. Today, I ordered Fried Dumplings and gave one to my toddler. As I was helping him consume it, I saw what I initially thought was uncooked dough. It was the finger portion of a latex glove. To say I am furious and disgusted is an under statement. I will never patronize this restaurant again, because I cannot trust them. Eat here at your own risk.

StarSpice provides consistently tasty food, friendly service, at a great cost. We tried their stew peas with pig tails and beef, which was fantastic with a Jamaican Kola. Shamine and Erica have a wonderful vegan food selection too. We had pumpkin, kale & spinach, chick peas curry, okra with black eyed peas, ackee and butter beans, all with rice. It was absolutely delicious, we especially loved the pumpkin! StarSpice is the perfect option for any vegan or vegetarian looking for a flavorful, filling meal.

I came in here about 30 minutes ago. I ordered the jerk chicken lunch special and a piece of fish. The rice and pease has a very unique flavor to it that wasn’t my cup of tea. Now let’s talk about the fish. It’s undercooked. A fully cooked porgy has white meat. It’s very much pink and has that look of undercooked fish. I’m very disappointed as this was my lunch break and I can’t even go back smhhh.
