With thousands of people on base and only a 1.5-hour dine-in window for each meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), it’s been difficult. I’ve been here for two months and have only eaten here about five times because I usually miss it or it’s too crowded.

Not sure why they can’t just have food that’s edible. A lot of other galleys have pretty decent food. Not sure what’s going on with this one but it ain’t it.

Best Galley in the Navy!! Love the snacks and the entrees. Everything makes sense! Lobster and oxtail stews are sweet surprises coming out of A school and Bootcamp in other locations, and they should not lower their standards. Been having too much high carbs options and no oatmeal’s these days

Why do I have to get $400 taken out of my paycheck every single month to spend at a facility that is 30 minute walk from work. And open only from 0630-0730 and 1130-1230pm (At work during the lunch break time), will deny service at 0728 and not care whether I starve or not? Why do people who are afforded BAS given the opportunity to receive a meal for $7? When I must get most of my paycheck taken from me, despite not being able to afford other basic necessities? Eating here should be optional, because some sailors are really struggling paycheck to paycheck because of the heinous amount of money taken from them, while others are provided the privilege of affording basic necessities as well as a hot meal for $7 if they choose to eat there. Some people afforded this BAS aren’t even of the rank that affords that privilege, it shouldn’t be a privilege to be able to have money in your pockets and choose to dine at the galley or not, especially if the work schedule is against your odds of being able to eat, or starve.

The food is always good and the server’s are nice. But today I went there and was told that do to being on a ship stationed there I had to pay for my food. My ship just pulled back in after 18 months and before we left it was never an issue. I’ve only ever had to pay for food at a base galley if my ship wasn’t serving food. It honestly sucks knowing that I have to walk back to my ship when I want food for dinner and on the weekends.

Ford was really good! I had steak, lobster, corn, baked potatoe, fried rice, and salad for $6…you can’t get a meal of that size for the price in California. After I went, I thought about McDonald’s on base and I would’ve spent over $10 for a “value meal.”

It was, in fact, a Navy Galley. The food was significantly above average for a galley, the place was incredibly clean, the staff was very nice, and it wasn’t busy at all. You could definitely do worse on base for food!

Lunch and dinner is usually disgusting. Rice is crunchy and very chewy. Veggies taste like dish soap water. I’ve come across many dirty dishes with smears of someone else’s leftovers. Breakfast is the only alright meal they serve.

It’s galley. The chili is fire. The rest of the food is passable at best. Raw and cold, but somehow burnt at worst. Don’t get your hopes up, but also if it comes out of your paycheck, don’t go waste your money elsewhere.

You’d have a better time finding a decent meal in a dumpster behind Applebee’s
