I had passed this place several times and decided to take the wife there on our date night. We were highly pleased with the food there. I had the chicken curry with rice and buttered naan. It was delicious! The wife had the potato samosas with mint and tamarind chutney as well as the matter paneer. Top shelf meal, will definitely return!

Don’t let the downtown brew pub decor fool you, this is serious family-made Indian food. Like seriously good.

The AI overview recommend the garlic Naan, chicken Tikka masala and butter chicken. We got it, and all of it was fantastic. Piping hot.

They ask if you want it mild, medium or hot. My wife was happy with her mild butter chicken.

The medium Tikka masala was wonderfully spicy — enough to get my nose running, but not so hot that it cleared my sinuses. 😉

The Naan bread was fantastic. It’s practically It’s own food group. Definitely order this.

The only odd thing was the spiced pickles. I wouldn’t order those again.

Service was super attentive this is obviously a family-run restaurant, and they care. They gave knowledgeable recommendations for vegan/vegetarian guests.

The bar is modern and well stocked.

For entertainment, there is air hockey and 2 pool tables, plus a jukebox. Apparently, they have pool leagues, so this is great if that’s your bag.

They did a steady stream of takeout orders, and all the tables looked happy.

Street front parking is somewhat limited, but we found a spot nearby.

If you are a local, definitely make this a go-to place.

If you are passing through, stop by like we did.

It’s worth it.

The only reason I downgraded the atmosphere is that there is little/no Indian decor… it is incongruous with the bar vibe.

Note: they do have American bar food, too, we just didn’t try it.

What a surprising gem!! Taj is very clean and fresh feeling as a restaurant with a sports bar component of tvs and pool tables. The Indian food was SO GOOD and fresh and there were lots of typical American items. It would be a great spot to take a friend if you’re adventurous and they are not. The staff were kind and I’ll be waiting to come back for more chicken korma.

Unique experience for absolutely fantastic food and service. For locals reading this: stop ordering the “safety” dishes like buttered chicken and masala. The variety of flavors that await you on their menu may just blow you away. I certainly will keep this in mind when visiting this side of the state.

I went here on a Wednesday afternoon and it was pretty dead, maybe a total of 3 tables. We were greeted and served quickly. I ordered the paneer tika and my dining partner ordered the chicken tika.

We were shocked when our food came out so fast in 10 minutes! Turns out it was not our food but the other tables. This seems like a silly mistake when there was only 3 tables to begin with.

When we got our actual food it was good. Nothing stellar. My pieces of paneer were large, the sauce was ok, and the rice was rice. There is nothing super special about the food in my opinion but also nothing wrong with it! Since there’s no other options for Indian food in cass, this is your place. The service needs a little improvement but other to a that a solid spot for lunch.

Prices are a bit high but international cuisine
Typically has dishes starting at $16 on up so not unusual in that sense.

Great atmosphere and even better food. My husband devoured his chicken tandoori and I absolutely loved the baingan Bharti (made extra spicy for me) then we shared kheer for desert. The kheer was not to sweet but very rich and delicious the perfect way to end this delicious meal. They have great food for both meat eaters like my husband and vegetarians like me. This place is almost 40 minutes from home but worth the drive.

Fantastic Indian (and American) food in the heart of Cassopolis. The food is authentic and amazingly good. The owners do a wonderful job of cooking and tending to their customers… so friendly! Also, there is a full bar with TV for sports. You can not go wrong giving this place a try… they have some of the best Chicken Tika Masala I’ve ever had! We drive 30 minutes to get here. So if you’re local, feel lucky this is so close.

We had such a great experience at this Indian restaurant in Cassopolis, Michigan. We tried the chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The tikka masala was rich, creamy, and full of authentic Indian spices, while the tandoori chicken was perfectly grilled with that classic smoky flavor you can only get from a traditional tandoor oven.

You can tell this place puts love and tradition into every recipe. The flavors were bold and balanced, the portions generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh. This is easily one of the best spots for authentic Indian food in southwest Michigan.

Whether you’re looking for Indian takeout, a cozy dine-in restaurant, or just craving some amazing Indian curry, this place is worth the drive. It’s a perfect choice for families, date night, or anyone wanting real, flavorful Indian cuisine close to home. Definitely a new favorite for anyone in Cass County, Dowagiac, or Edwardsburg.

We’ll absolutely be coming back for more — I already have my eye on the butter chicken next time!

What a surprise! Didn’t expect much because of the location, but was blown away by the quality and flavor. I’m not usually one to choose Indian food, but my chili chicken was amazing and my wife loved the butter chicken. Definitely recommend!
