Sancocho coño !!!!! It was an incredible experience.
I finally tried El Bacano, and the Sancocho is a 10/10. You can tell they don’t take shortcuts here. It has that deep, homemade quality you usually only find in a local fonda. Every spoonful felt like a warm hug from a Dominican grandmother. Highly recommend for anyone craving true Caribbean comfort food.

I recently visited El Bacano, and it offered a flavorful introduction to Colombian-style comfort food in the San Fernando Valley. Located along Victory Boulevard in North Hollywood, the restaurant has a relaxed and welcoming neighborhood atmosphere that reflects the casual nature of traditional Colombian eateries. The space is simple and comfortable, allowing diners to focus on the bold flavors and hearty dishes that define the cuisine.

Colombian food is known for generous portions and comforting combinations of grilled meats, rice, beans, and fried accompaniments. The menu at El Bacano reflects these traditions well. One of the highlights was the classic Colombian plates that feature multiple components served together. The grilled meats were well seasoned and cooked properly, delivering savory flavors that pair naturally with the accompanying rice and beans.

Another standout element of the meal was the use of traditional sides such as fried plantains and arepas. The plantains added a subtle sweetness that balanced the savory meats, while the arepas provided a satisfying corn-based element that helped round out the plate. These sides are essential components of Colombian cuisine and added both texture and flavor to the meal.

The seasoning across the dishes leaned toward savory and herb-forward flavors rather than heavy spice, which is characteristic of Colombian cooking. The result is food that feels comforting and approachable while still maintaining its cultural authenticity. Portions were generous and filling, reflecting the style of hearty meals that Colombian restaurants are known for.

Service during the visit was friendly and welcoming. Staff members maintained a relaxed and personable attitude that helped create a comfortable dining environment. Restaurants that specialize in cultural cuisine often stand out because of the pride behind the food, and that sense of authenticity was noticeable throughout the experience.

Overall, El Bacano delivers a satisfying Colombian dining experience with hearty portions, traditional flavors, and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. It is a great option for anyone interested in exploring Colombian cuisine or enjoying comforting Latin American dishes in North Hollywood.

This was my first time at this restaurant. We just discovered this restaurant talking to the hairdresser. We lucked out because they are closed on Mondays! This is a Dominican fast food style restaurant. It’s not a large space, but there are tables and chairs to dine in. The menu has the basics of a typical Dominican dish such as rice, beans, meat and other sides. We ordered fried pork chops, fried pork rinds, white rice, black beans, rice with pigeon peas, fried plantains, fried cheese, avocado and empanada. We order a sancocho (soup with different types of meats and vegetables) to go which came with white rce. The portions are generous and food is placed in to go containers. We ended up taking leftovers. They also have juices including passion fruit and soursop. There’s no bar or alcohol here. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food came out very hot and pretty quick. The place inside was clean. While there, I noticed that all orders placed after 8:30 are to go only and also no public restrooms. This place can be
easily missed. It’s located next to Subway. There’s plenty of parking spots. I would recommend this place. The food was flavorful.

*Please give this place a try*

Almost pulled out of LA Fitness parking lot and saw this sign. I’ve had Dominican food at my Dominican friend’s house. This tasted just as homemade and authentic.

I cannot tell you how much flavor the food has here. I would eat here everyday if I lived in NoHo!

The food came out quickly and it was super fresh.

The mango drink tastes like mango and not those hard California mangos I mean real mango like the ones I grew up eating in Florida.

They have a huge menu and I plan on visiting here again once I’m at the NoHo gym again.

Pretty good. The Bacalao Guisado was too dry for my preference but flavor was great. Other than everything on the plate was delicous.

Amazing hidden gem! Some of the most delicious Dominican food I’ve had in the west coast. Big big portions and decently prized. Excited to come back to try the other dishes.

¡Puro Sabor Dominicano! El Bacano Wins My Heart (and Stomach)

El Bacano isn’t just another restaurant; it’s a portal to the Dominican Republic’s culinary wonderland! From the vibrant atmosphere to the explosion of flavors in every dish, I left feeling like I’d experienced a mini-vacation. Let’s break down the highlights:

Mangu: The true test of any Dominican restaurant lies in its mangu, and El Bacano knocks it out of the park. Creamy, perfectly seasoned, and with just the right touch of saltiness, it was the ideal foundation for the savory goodness to come.

Santana’s Chicken: This slow-roasted delight was bursting with flavor. The adobo marinade had infused every bite with warm, citrusy goodness, and the perfectly crispy skin provided a delightful textural contrast. Each juicy morsel was pure heaven!

Chimi Burger: Calling all burger lovers! This isn’t your average patty. Sandwiched between two sweet plantains, the savory ground beef, topped with melty cheese, fresh avocado, and a tangy mayo sauce, created an unforgettable flavor explosion. It’s messy, it’s delicious, and it’s a must-try!

Bacalao Guisado: If you’re looking for a hearty, soul-warming dish, look no further. This flavorful cod stew, cooked in a rich tomato-based sauce with peppers, onions, and spices, was simply divine. Every spoonful was a comforting hug, bursting with Dominican magic.

Beyond the Food: Let’s not forget the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. The staff’s genuine warmth and enthusiasm for the food added another layer of enjoyment to the entire experience. I felt like I was being welcomed into their home, not just another restaurant.

Final Verdict: El Bacano is a gem! If you’re looking for authentic Dominican flavors, warm hospitality, and an overall delightful dining experience, look no further. This is a 5-star experience all the way, and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu!

Pro Tip: For the full experience, pair your meal with a Presidente beer or a refreshing morir soñando!

P.S. If you’re not familiar with Dominican cuisine, this is the perfect place to start! The staff is happy to answer any questions and guide you through the menu. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

This place is authentic and legit! The mangu, queso frito, fried salami, and eggs was delicious and a huge serving! Next up, the La Bandera which left me speechless. Absolute perfection. Can it get any better? Hell yeah! Sancocho was next and let me say I could eat this everyday for the rest of my life and die happy! Let’s not forget the drink star…Morir Soñando. Had to go back and get seconds. My 3 year old son enjoyed it all too! Coming back for more very soon.

Que lo que con estos precios?

I really wanted to like this place, but it’s very overpriced.

I spent $36 on Mangu con Los Tres Golpes and a Morir Sonando drink (after tax and tip). That’s actually ridiculous lmao. Mangu is not a gourmet dish lol, it’s an average Dominican breakfast. Plus, the baddie at the front was pretty rude and unwelcoming.

The food was good and the decor is nice, but you can get the exact same food for half the price elsewhere.
