I recently visited this Thai/Sushi restaurant and was really impressed. Their menu is huge—almost overwhelming in the best way—so there’s no shortage of options whether you’re in the mood for classic Thai dishes or fresh sushi. Everything we ordered that night was excellent, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

The service was another standout. Our server was prompt, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed.

Overall, this is a great spot with delicious food and a ton of variety. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars—just shy of perfect, but absolutely worth a visit and a place I’d happily return to.

Came here for dinner with a friend. Was looking forward to it because of the reviews but I was disappointed. The cashew nut sauce meal tasted like a microwaved meal. The raw sushi for the tuna did not seem fresh and upset my stomach. I do appreciate that they removed the cream cheese from the roll and substituted it with a spicy sauce. Also the vibe of the restaurant was chaotic. Overall, probably wouldn’t come back.

Honestly not so impressed with the freshness. Price was overpriced for quality. Service was a C- for rushiness and forgetting things. Wasn’t authentic Thai or Asian food.

We recently visited Kao Gang and here’s our detailed take on the food, service, and overall experience.

Ambience & Service

The ambience was clean, modern, and comfortable—definitely a plus. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. They offer five spice levels, which is great for people who like to customize their heat. However, despite the good vibe and service, the food quality and freshness left a lot to be desired.

Fries – 8/10

Surprisingly good! Crispy, well-seasoned, and served hot. A solid appetizer to start with.

Wings – 9/10

One of the highlights of our meal. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The sauce on the wings complemented the spice level well. Highly recommend.

Clear Soup (Chicken & Shrimp) – 10/10

Absolutely delicious. The broth was clean, flavorful, and comforting. Generous amounts of tomatoes, mushrooms, and vegetables made this dish feel hearty yet light. Perfectly balanced.

Chicken Dumplings – 1/10

Extremely disappointing. The filling lacked flavor and tasted off. Worse, the dumplings were undercooked, which made them nearly inedible. Would not order again.

Chicken Fried Rice (Sticky Rice) – 5/10

Mediocre. The rice was too sticky and clumpy, which ruined the texture. It lacked seasoning and felt bland overall. A forgettable dish.

Poke Bowl (Salmon, Lobster, Squid, Seaweed, etc.) – 4/10

This dish looked promising but fell flat. The sauce was not tasty, and the seafood didn’t feel fresh. The ingredients just didn’t come together, and the texture was off. Needs improvement in both flavor and freshness.

⚠️ Overall Comments:
• Food freshness was a major concern.
• The clear soup and wings were excellent.
• Most other items, especially the dumplings and poke bowl, were either poorly executed or felt stale.
• Ambience and service were great, but that alone can’t carry the experience.

⭐ Final Verdict:

Kao Gang shows potential with a few standout dishes, but overall, the inconsistency in quality, flavor, and freshness makes it hard to fully recommend—especially at their price point. Would revisit only for the wings and soup

I love the atmosphere here. They decorate the place nicely. The staffs are friendly. The menu are diverse and taste authentic. Today we got the ramen and tom yum noodle. Both are good and come in a giant bowl

To start this place is located inside a plaza, so if you want a nice ambiance this is not the place for you. They’re open late that’s why we ended at this place; seems like the only Thai restaurant that is open later than 9 pm in the PGA area.
Menu doesn’t have much Thai selection but there’s lots of Sushi. My wife was craving authentic Thai food so we stuck with the Thai options. We ordered soup and chicken wings to start and it was good; the chicken wings to my surprise was fantastic and we actually enjoyed it. Just enough breading to have that nice crispiness. The Basil fried rice was a huge let down for us. I could actually say the worst Basil fried rice we ever had. It was an interesting texture- grain seemed undercooked and it lacked flavor. The shrimp Pad Thai was good but we have had better, and finally the service was ok. We brought to the server’s attention regarding the fried rice & she kinda of just brushed it off. Few minutes later either a manager or owner came in to clean our table and we mentioned to her as well. She took it out from the bill but proceeded to lecture us first about how we should have told them earlier instead of at the end. But we reasoned that it may not fair well to send the food back to the kitchen. Regretfully, we would not recommend this place.

Loved the food. Thai noodles are delicious and super super bowl for the price. Teriyaki chicken was awesome.

The good was very good. Across the board quality was solid, but didn’t directly correlate to the price point for me.

The service was spectacular, they were attentive, funny, kind, and made some great recommendations. I’ll be coming back in the future but likely won’t make it a consistently spot since it was around $100 for just my wife and myself for lunch.

I had an amazing experience dining at Kao Gang on Friday night. We arrived there fairly late, after 9pm, but the restaurant still had a great atmosphere, we were seated quickly, and the service was fantastic from the start.

I couldn’t decide between a stir fry and noodles, and our server guided me to a dish I wouldn’t have chosen on my own. I ordered the Pad Cha (a curry stir fry), and it was exactly what I wanted. It was super fresh, full of veggies, and incredibly flavorful.

We also had the spring rolls, which came out hot and clearly freshly made. Everything tasted amazing.

We’ll definitely be coming back!
