We were referred to Jim’s Cafe by several locals while in Greenville for the Tamale Festival.
Their recommendation was spot on. We had the Western Omelette with hash browns and toast. The omelette was a very good sized portion and full of grilled vegetables. The hash browns were amazing, lightly crispy and very delicious!! The coffee was very good, not bitter or too strong.
The staff was very friendly and courteous.
Would definitely recommend Jim’s Cafe.

Historic location with lots of character. Old man’s liar table in the back!
Breakfast is eggs, toast or biscuit, grits and bacon or sausage. It’s good.
Great hot lunches; a meat and three OR 2 and the dessert! The burgers are good, club sandwich is good. Homemade salad dressings, excellent comeback/1000 island.
Vegetables are seasoned well. Great, friendly service. Fast, efficient and a good value.
Chicken and dressing with cranberry sauce allows for Thanksgiving year-round. Every Wednesday!
Beef tips are like a roast and the gravy is savory. Good rice.
Butterbeans are seasoned with salt and black pepper.
Sweet potato casserole is sweet, creamy and a quasi-dessert!
The hamburger steak is great. The pinto beans are real good, too!
Eat here often! It’s comfort food!

Sitting near the tail end strip of downtown Greenville is this lovely, local diner. The food was delicious and comforting, and I loved the homemade hot sauce for my from scratch biscuits and gravy. Lots of locals dining, chatting, making it a very lively experience. It’s adjacent to where the original Stein Mart location opened. First time seeing a taxidermied, Peccary, tusked, Large Mouth Bass. I wonder what this mythical beast’s name is?

Do yourself a favor and make it a point to stop in here to eat if you are ever passing through Leland.
Jim’s Cafe has been in business at this location since 1909. The family that owns and operates this business is the fourth generation. This family has owned this business for over 90 years!
The food is pure Southern home cooking at its best. The Southern hospitality is as good as it gets.
We arrived today at 12:30. It was packed with locals. All eyes were on us as we entered because they were trying to figure out who the strangers were. By 1:30, it was pretty cleared out.
They have daily specials, and we overheard the server telling some late comers about some side dishes that they were out of already.
It was Wednesday, and we both ordered the daily special. You are given a choice of two meats and three side dishes. I got the chicken and dressing. My wife got the beef tips over Rice. We both thought we ordered the best dish. The sweet potato casserole was to die for good. It was right on par with the Cherry Cheese Pie.
So glad we made this stop today.

Ok, the only reason I’m here, only reason I’ve even heard of the restaurant or the town, was Alton Brown’s second “Feasting on Asphalt” special from the “Good Eats” days. He had pancakes w/beef tips because they didn’t have chicken & waffles. I’d have been happy with either. Neither is available.
The lady who seated us seemed to want to be anywhere else doing anything else. Fortunately, the other lady took our order and had a perceptible sense of humor and tolerance of humans.
Menu is straightforward, we went with a club sandwich & biscuits & gravy, sweet tea & a lemonade. Can’t get much more Southern. (One menu item was a “clump of tuna”. Avoided that.)
The biscuits were a bit over-toasted but the sausage gravy was good as was the sandwich & fries.
The bathrooms are….something else. No locks, no handles, look like they’re 40 yrs old. Clean-ish, better than many a convenience store but in need of some serious work. Was 4 stars until that point.

Found this quaint little place off google. The reviews made it even more appealing so we had to try it out. We went for late breakfast on a Wednesday morning. Very friendly staff. Decorated with pictures from old times. Was established in 1909. Met the nice lady who’s grandfather bought it from Jim so it’s been in her family for over 60 years.
Highly recommend.

Came into town for the hot tamale festival for work. When I first came to the restaurant there was a line. I went into the bathroom to change my shirt. When I exited the restroom the waitress told me to never come back in there again. I am black and I didn’t know that Greenville Ms was still a segregated community. Don’t do recommend this restaurant. Feel bad for this establishment to be honest

Awesome place to eat. Great history behind the restaurant. Same family has owned it since the early 1900’s. Our food has fantastic and the hash browns are great. If we make it back to the area again we will definitely stop back in

Absolutely the BEST hash browns I’ve ever had in my life! Crispy, fresh and yummy! The jelly was homemade strawberry, also delicious. Jim’s is a step back in time, but worth the stop. Great food and atmosphere.

Hash browns so crispy that they tasted like shoestring potato’s ,they deep fry them , my toast was bad, not sure how you do that. Very disappointed 🙁 My friends biscuit was not soft and tasted like a day old . Eggs were not cooked like we asked
