I’m currently in awe in my experience at this Subway – I still don’t understand what just happened, and it was literally the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I’ve never even written a negative review before for any restaurant in my life.

To start things, my Fiance and I stopped in this Subway on our way home for lunch. When we stopped in, we weren’t greeted at all, and the man behind the counter just looked at us with a blank stare. No problem, I’ve worked in food before so I get it, especially if you’re having a rough day. I ordered the #2 Outlaw. My fiance was in front of me and ordered a Turkey and Ham and also paid for mine, but my sandwich artist was still working on my sandwich during this time. After the transaction was completed, the entire attitude with the person that processed the payment and the sandwich artist changed, possibly because she didn’t leave a tip. After she paid, my sandwich sat on the counter out of the toaster oven, and the sandwich artist proceeded to do literally anything other than complete my sandwich – moving bread, helping online orders as they came in, changing gloves, etc. At first, I just thought this may have been a mistake, but it was clear that it was willfully malicious. He even went so far as to ask the payment processer (possibly supervisor) if there was anything else he needed to be working on. Still my sandwich sat. The payment processor disappeared and walked outside (the store is set up where there is a back entrance) and I asked loudly if someone could complete my order. He completely ignored me and kept walking. My sandwich artist also disappeared into the back, and I yelled back and asked if he could finish my sandwich. He put his gloves back on, and I just asked for Mayo and Baja Chipotle. He then proceeded to label the sauces instead of put the sauce on my sandwich. If that had to do with food safety then whatever, but they also just completed 3 online orders before they started on ours. He finally put the sauces on (and gave me light mayo instead of regular mayo, which is just the icing on the cake) and then did NOT fold my sandwich in half and rolled up it up open-face, so all of the filling spilled out. This also seemed intentional and malicious.

After I walked out to the car, I decided to go back in and ask if we did anything wrong to warrant this situation. He told me that he wasn’t sure why I was escalating the situation, which I wasn’t – I just wanted clarification if it were just a mistake and he was having a busy day, or if we did something wrong that warranted this attitude. He didn’t answer me and just told me that he didn’t know where the person that was helping me went. It is the only time in my life where I’ve wanted to speak to the owner or manager of a restaurant, because this behavior is completely unacceptable. Like literally something you’d see on undercover boss.

I’ve already contacted corporate, will also be contacting the franchiser, and will never be visiting this location again.

Hands down the worst subway I’ve ever been to. Husband and I were the only two in the establishment & and this guy took FOREVER moving at a SNAIL’S pace to make our sandwiches. Visibly made a huge mess on them – didn’t fold them shut, half wore is gloves & as clearly high as a kite. Couldn’t eat my sandwich as it was so covered and dripping in sauce everything was falling/leaking out.

One of the worst subways I’ve been to. I’d just avoid subway all together in Ames. Only one guy was working, and he was moving at a snails pace. Barely knew how to assemble a sandwich, and didn’t roll it up when packaging it.

Portion sizes were absolutely horrendous, I literally could barely chew or swallow my sandwich because it was 80% bread. I mean seriously? Subways prices aren’t cheap, so why do they give you no decent portions whatsoever? Not to mention the fact that the guy working sounded pissed that he even had to help us despite the fact we had never been before so we didn’t know where to pick up the mobile orders, so all he’d have to do is say “do you have a mobile order?” If yes he just has to point to where they are, it’s not that hard. Some people try and use the excuse that since its a good chance there will be a college kid working there, that you should for some reason expect them to slack off???

What makes this Subway nice is that there is Wi-Fi available upon request, and that it’s a very short walk from the ISU campus in the Campustown district.

As a Subway, it’s very standard. Same ingredients and food quality as always.

Ive been ordering food from the subway app at this location for a couple weeks now, but today was just absolutely unacceptable for a subway. I ordered 2 meatball marinara subs, which i took home to eat. Upon opening the subs, I found a measly 3-4 meatballs total in each sub, which is completely outrageous. I don’t understand why Im paying full price for 2 subs when my sub doesn’t even contain a 3rd of the contents. Absolutely disappointed in the employee who made my sandwich.

Forgot to mention, they didn’t cut my sub in half either.

When my boyfriend and I walked in there was one guy working. He abruptly asked if we had an online order. When we said no he scoffed and said what do you want. We noticed that the counter was covered in crumbs, meat pieces, and looked very wet and gross. The meat was all mixed together and so was every other container. When he grabbed the sheet to make the sandwich his glove left a wet handprint. I then proceeded to give my very simple subway order of a ham and cheese sandwich. He put barely anything on the footlong bread. I’m talking literally three ham slices and two cheese slices. When I told him I wanted it toasted he started the toasting then went to start my Boyfriends order. When the toaster beeped to let him know it was ready to be taken out he ignored it and kept working on the other sandwich. By the time he took it out it was black on the top. He slid my boyfriend’s sandwich across the counter without the protective paper. Then when all was said and done, he informed us that card tips go to his boss and to leave him a cash tip. There was also three chip options with maybe 20 bags of chips available, only bread option was the white (Italian) bread, and almost all of the soda dispensers were out of order or out of syrup. Safe to say we won’t be going there ever again.

I don’t write reviews a lot but this place needed to be noted. I went during lunch on Monday and the one employee working didn’t even greet me just asked what do I want. I gave him my order and he just picked random bread at will. At one point during the exchange he walked away from the counter (presumably to grab ingredients) but didn’t say a word just walked away for 10 minutes then miraculously came back. No exaggeration when I say no people skills, and I am positive I saw him wrap my sandwich barehanded. I don’t even know why I am surprised I have food poisoning this morning.

Was having a good day, got done with class, so I decided to hit up Subway because I received a coupon in the mail. It’s “get a footling meal for $7.99”. Simple, you get a footlong, drink, and your choice of cookies or a chip. It went great, the guy was fine. He had me pay first and then did his thing but then he tried to dismiss me or get me out of the way. There were some people behind me but I wasn’t there for long so I don’t understand why he was rudely pushing me away. I ask him if the coupon was the one with the cookies or chip because I didn’t know for sure since he was pushing me away, I figured I read it wrong so that’s why but then he got upset at me and said something around, “yep, so what do you want, I have people behind you. Come on, hurry.” I didn’t say anything except “eww”. I would have left right there but he had me pay for the food before making my sandwich. O just so people know, the guy was short, had short blonde hair, wearing his uniform and mask. He was so rude and I won’t be coming to this Subway, and possibly any Subway again.
