Reviews
Soft Shell Crab Katsu, crunchy breadcrumb deep fry served with Japanese tartar sauce — satisfying comfort. Squash Blossom Tempura — a novel seasonal specialty, the batter, more beer batter. Shrimp Dumplings — top choice. Hamachi Kama, chargrilled yellowtail collar — excellent. Chicken Udon — solid delivery.
Sun Dragon Roll, though good, the shrimp tempura batter was not as lightly crisp as hoped, the rice slightly densely packed. Inari with Wasabi special — clever and sweet. Selection of nigiri sushi, does the trick, but not life-changing.
Great as a small dish izakaya, with Japanese whiskey flights a novelty.
Hamachi toro nigiri and kibinago nigiri in particular were delicious.
It is tucked away from the busy area on a quiet corner on the 3rd street. Great indoor and patio seating. Parking around here is one hour.
Food is delicious. Ask for their recommendation, it did not dispoint. If you enjoy unagi don’t miss the sun dragon.
Service: everyone really kind, especially a guy called Cam!
Atmosphere: cute ambience and playing the songs of Sade!
couldn’t be better!
Now i have a new fave restaurant in SF!
The food was delicious. We couldn’t help but order lots of specials – they looked so good! We had the bacon wrapped mochi (decadent), hamachi bomb (bombs of tastiness), sake bomb (also the bomb), and spicy tuna bomb (intense in a good way. We also ordered the Golden Gate maki and uni. Everything was flavorful and fresh.
Service was a bit off – we received a dish we didn’t order – but overall we will be back!
– Service: We saw the waiter 3 times, once to ask us if we wanted water (quite delayed – this was ~10 min after being seated), once to take our order, and once to give us the bill. And, he never once asked how the food was, even when bringing the bill.
– Food: Overall, the fish and rice were of poor quality. The fish was oddly mushy and lacking bite, and the rice was overcooked. In addition, we found two fish bones in the poke mix that was in one of the rolls. The waiter brought a comped mochi ice cream, but I would expect the manager / chef to come out to us + offer something more meaningful or at least a choice of dessert. A very poor experience, especially given the price point of the restaurant.
– Atmosphere: Not horrendous but could use a more thorough cleaning, especially in the window seats where we sat.
