I came for lunch and was seated right away. Service was quick and the place had a great vibe!

Update: 12/24 back again and tried the sushi burrito, probably my new favorite thing. I also got their Bloody Mary this morning. It was more pickle juice(still good but I’m a tomato girly) so I added a splash of their house spicy salsa and BAM! Sooooo good. Would highly recommend.

Back again: 12/19- had the carnitas for the first time. Best in the area! The serving size is HUGE and the quality of the meat is so good. We tried the mixed flautas and they were pretty good- the presentation though is top notch.

Back again 4/21: had the cali steak burrito for the first time. Dang, that was good!

The food was good. I had the combination fajitas and no complaints.
The margarita was bad – the kind that makes you feel gross afterwards. Tasted like watered down lemonade with too much sugar.
Didn’t love the decor as we much prefer the more traditional theming. My wife described it as feel sterile.
Major language barrier with order mishaps. We eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants, including regular trips to actual Mexico, and rarely have that much trouble ordering.

This El Sombrero is relatively new. It has the staple Americanized Mexican food items one could expect. It also does have more traditional items! The Birria tacos are really quite good! I have gotten them twice and plan on getting them again.

The food is good, but having been twice, both times the service was not good. Once a server seemed very disinterested in serving us and was rather neglectful of our table. The other time the server though polite, was working far too many tables and was again neglectful of our needs.

Overall, the food is very good, the atmosphere is fun, but service could use help. Thus 4/5 stars for me.

Our server demonstrated a lack of attention to our needs. However, the atmosphere made up for this shortcoming. Despite not being asked if I needed a refill on my drink or receiving water, the overall experience was great.

While our young server may have benefited from additional training, the evening was enjoyable.

First time eating here. Everything was great! Our food came to our table so fast. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and hot. I had the birria tacos and they did not disappoint. The whole restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was incredible. I will definitely be back! 10/10 recommend!

New favorite Mexican in the Jackson-met area for their birria tacos and more.
(Jackson natives, we’ve been everywhere)

Typically Misjudged
We had shrimp and beef/chicken fajitas as well as birria quesadilla. So we’re great.

Excellent food and service. Will return.

The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the T-bone steaks they cook are over done, but everything else was delicious.

Friday Lunch (12:30) Greeted and sat quickly. Very clean restaurant-you could smell the cleanliness. Great service and atmosphere (love the funky light fixtures)! The salsa is on the spicy side so I added squeezed lemon juice and a tad of salt to tone it down. Ordered the lunch chicken fajitas with pico on the side. Food came out quickly, like super fast, and just as I ordered. The meat and vegetables were too salty, but I ate it anyway 😛 I kept thinking something is missing…the cheese sauce-that would’ve made it better. Sadly beans and rice had zero flavor. I may go back, but will definitely order something different. FORGOT to take pics!!!

I ordered the lemon pepper wings with fries and they’re good but I’m just curious as to why they are so spicy?? That’s the only issue. Has my mouth burning
