Here’s a tip, when you walk into a restaurant and you see trophies for multiple years in a row spanning decades, eat anything on the menu. The owner is an amazing Master barbecuer, the manager and the staff are absolutely on point. I recommend everything they make. I’ve tried most of it and I absolutely love it.

Found this place by accident , this place is inside a Chevron Gas station. Its small but has a nice feel to it. I ordered a tri tip sandwich with corn and bbq beans. The beans were awful, sorry to say but come on lets stop using can beans with a few additional seasonings. The corn was ok its corn not much there. The tri tip was moist, has depth and a beautiful smoke ring. The serving in my sandwich was sufficient for the price. This place should definitely look into establishing their own space as it would increase foot traffic and attract more people due to it not being in a gas station because parking is a bit tight.

Great breakfast sandwich. You get your choice of meat, egg made to order and cheese on a hamburger bun. I had brisket with eggs over-medium. So good. Lots of meat. Highly recommend.

Sorry previously I posted a review for this place but it was meant to be for The Flying Pig pub. When I picked up my plate with a friend and there were some meat options unavailable for purchase which was disappointing. The food tasted good, although some parts did tend to be greasy for my liking.

With high hopes and an empty stomach, I recently visited this establishment to satisfy my cravings for smoky flavors and grilled goodness. While my visit left me with mixed feelings, I can confidently say that the food at When Pigs Fly BBQ was just okay, without being extraordinary or disappointing.
Overall, the sides were satisfactory but failed to elevate the meal.
One aspect that did stand out positively was the portion sizes. The servings were generous, ensuring that no one would leave the restaurant hungry. This is definitely a plus for those seeking a hearty meal.
In terms of pricing, When Pigs Fly BBQ falls within a reasonable range for a barbecue restaurant. While it wasn’t an exorbitant expense, I would have expected slightly better quality given the prices. The value for money was decent, but I believe there are other establishments that offer a more memorable dining experience at a similar price point.
In summary, my visit left me with mixed feelings. While the food was not bad, it also didn’t reach the level of greatness I had anticipated. The average flavors and unremarkable sides held it back from being a standout barbecue destination. However, if you’re looking for a casual meal with decent portions, friendly service, and an overall satisfactory experience, When Pigs Fly BBQ might just fit the bill.

1 it is inside a gas station. So low expectations.
2 the food was mediocre at best. I ordered a two meat combo with beans and slaw. The meat was more bone than actual meat, the cole slaw and beans had no flavor. On to my wife’s order, she has a sandwich and slaw. Unfortunately she didn’t eat either one.
When talking to a coworker about the experience, he said to try a different location. I don’t know if I can convince my wife to try it but we will see. My coworker said that the gas station gets it’s food from this other location.

People were nice food was underwhelming, very basic, not good at all. The only person who seemed to enjoy the food was my son and he had a hot dog and french fries. On my way home I had to pull over for my daughter to vomit. I’m not one to leave reviews and negative ones at that but I feel like I waited my money. We will not return.
Update: I’m going to have to miss work and possible take my daughter to the ER! She’s been vomiting non stop!

I had pretty much written this place off because the first two times I tried it the food was so damn spicy hot I had to throw it away. This was every meat, even the chicken. I talked to one of the people behind the counter about this and I was told that the spicier it was the better. BUT I had such a taste for ribs I gave them another try. Good thing too. I had the ribs and brisket and nothing is getting thrown away today. Just the right of spicy and good smoke profile. This was the Vista wy location.

This is the best food I’ve had out here in CA. Originally from VA and very used to eating BBQ regularly and anything southern. The Mac and cheese is so amazing. And the peach cobbler I completely understand why it’s award winning. Everything is delicious won’t be the last time I eat there.
