Man where do I start? First of all I came in and out ordered the shrimp dinner with fries. Waited 20 minutes for that and then when it did come out my shrimp for cold I asked her could she remake the meal. She said of course wait another 22 minutes for the shrimp and they come out and all she did was redip them. So that means they were extra crispy. I should say hard and also submerged in grease so I told her I did not want these. I wanted to know if she can cook me a fresh batch and did it. I was in this Captain Jay’s for an hour and 20 minutes. Ridiculous. Just for a 10-piece strip shrimp meal. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll ever be going back here. And by the way, the food was for my 95-year-old grandma and I’m sure she didn’t want any hard doubled dipped soaked in oil shrimp

While visiting Michigan, we were looking for something good but affordable to eat, and someone recommended Captain Jay’s Fish & Chicken — and let me just say, it did not disappoint!
We got a 5-piece chicken wing meal (with double fries, a drink, and bread) and a kids fish stick meal, plus a jalapeño and a peach cobbler — all for under $25. The real star of the show was the 5-piece wing meal, which I had tossed in the hot honey BBQ sauce for just an extra dollar. The sauce was really good — not as spicy as I personally would have liked, but still flavorful and delicious.
The chicken was incredibly crispy and seasoned perfectly, and the fries were nice and crunchy too. I asked for some lemon pepper sprinkled on top, and the employee happily did it — 10/10 flavor! Honestly, I couldn’t even finish it all in one sitting — and now I’m sitting here just salivating thinking about the rest of that crispy chicken I get to eat later tonight!
The service was also excellent. A very sweet, helpful, and funny lady (I didn’t catch her name, but she was Black — it’s cool, I’m Black too haha) greeted me warmly and made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere inside was clean, laid-back, and welcoming.
If you’re looking for somewhere with great food, great service, and great prices, definitely check out Captain Jay’s. The value you get for what you pay is totally worth it. After a long day of driving, it was exactly what we needed — I’m so glad we stopped in!

This location always gives me problems. One time they gave me a burnt piece of chicken. A different time they completely missed putting a small order of fries in the bag. Today I ordered a 10-piece wingding and only received nine. When I came to get the missing wing ding, I asked for a biscuit to compensate for my lost time & gas of having to come back to the restaurant. They told me no and they did not apologize for my messed up order. Instead the cashier told me I had been accused of scamming the restaurant and why do I keep coming back if I keep having problems. I agree with her there. This was the final straw for me. I definitely won’t be returning to this Captain Jay’s period.

The quality of the food is not what it used to be. Slow service with current crew. Wasn’t like this before. Waited over an hour for our meals. Manager claimed chicken wasn’t prepped and it wasn’t his fault. They don’t give out refunds for long waits or accommodate you in any other way for it. They had bad attitudes. It was very cold inside.

Just had my husband pick this up and started ea this to one fine blood pouring out of the chicken. This is under cooked and unacceptable hopefully I don’t get sick from this and I will be reporting this to the health department because this is some chicken that was frozen that they just decided to deep fry because they didn’t have enough and I hope to God I don’t get food poisoning

This store is absolutely horrible!!!DO NOT ORDER HERE!!! I just placed an order on uber eats and received my order and all 16 pieces were burnt!! I called the store and the girl yells in the phone saying hello as she proceeds to tell me she will let me talk to the manager. He then gets on the phone and goes back and forth with me that my chicken was not burnt and it was freshly made because they ran out of chicken so they made it fresh and it was not burnt because he was the one that made it. I told him I don’t care if the chicken just came from the farm in the back all of my chicken was burnt and not edible….he offered for me to come to the store and get it replaced…what was the point of ordering on uber if I could’ve came and picked it up? I have a newborn and a 6 year old and I’m not bringing them out at 9:30pm because they messed my chicken up!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS STORE!!!! I will be calling and reporting them Monday morning!!

I ordered chicken that was undercooked and not seasoned. I also ordered Banana pudding and I received a container of box pudding with cookies in a paper bag. When I contacted their staff, the alleged manager told me that my statement was not true!!! She was rude and her tone very unprofessional. Pictures are worth a thousand words!!! I am very saddened and have patronized this restaurant numerous times before….. Done!!!

This is probably the worst location I’ve been to. I stood right in front of the counter for legit 10 minutes and was never acknowledged. Not surprising considering the girl up front couldn’t pull herself away from her phone long enough to do her job. Left without ordering… will never be back. You can get better chicken and service in a LOT of other places.

I order from this location because it’s closest to my house. It’s usually pretty good, idk what happen tonight. The shrimp is old. It’s like it was fried twice. She asked me on the phone if i wanted lemon pepper, i said yes and there’s nothing on the food at all. I don’t know if I’ll return after tonight just a waste of money. I could have gone to McDonald’s across the street and prob got something more appealing
