Someone needs to teach these people the difference between shrimp tempura and fried shrimp. I ordered shrimp “tempura” and got shrimp breaded and fried and it came with a very sad sauce drizzled on top. I took two bites and threw it away. Wonton soup was good though and my son said his beef & broccoli was just “ok”. The place looks sad inside and the woman who worked at the counter and gave me my order could have been a bit more pleasant. I will not be back.

Wow actually normal size egg rolls fully filled not big and hollow like other spots
Plus the color of vegis in the fried rice looks and taste fresh boneless ribs perfect I’m from the Bronx and I’ve tried all other Chinese food from Greenwich to Fairfield and this place is the best spot and very nice price is worth it for a great meal

Very good Szechuan Dumplings and Hot & Sour soup. Added some Fly by Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp otherwise perfect the way they are. Ordered Beef with Eggplant good but not a lot of beef.

If this is not the worst Chinese food anywhere in the area, I cannot imagine what is…I would have offered up zero stars across the board if possible. Small, cramped, not clean looking. Zero “atmosphere”. Rice tastes like it’s a week old or maybe steamed in dishwater. Overcooked, over-salted ribs – in fact, everything was over-salted. Tough meat. Soggy, greasy spring rolls that were virtually flavorless. And it goes on and on. Just a big waste of money. Do yourself a favor, skip it.

The food was great and so was the service, my main issue was the atmosphere, there wasn’t a lot inside and didn’t feel as welcoming compared to other restaurants I’ve seen and been to. The price is a bit steep but the quality makes up for it. Wouldn’t recommend going there by yourself, bring a friend especially if your dining in. If your taking out, avoid common times for lunch in dinner, once had my food delayed 10 minutes. Also, there aren’t a lot of seats partly due to lack of space, so if you want to hold a party, don’t even bother trying to done in, just get take out and it shouldn’t take too long for them to get the order prepared unless it’s 1-1:30 or 6-7, those are the common times for delay from what I’ve experienced. If your wondering how much you can expect to spend, it should be around 12-18 dollars per person I would say. Look at their menu and prices online if your concerned. Overall, good place, great food, nice staff, can do better on interior.

We’ve lived in Norwalk for years and not found Chinese food we enjoy, until now. Every single menu item has been a hit, customer service wonderful and food ready on a timely manner. 10/10 will come back.

We love Shanghai Gourmet! Recently, we had two parties and both times made very large orders. Both orders were ready for pickup on time and well packed with nothing missing. During the year, it is THE place for us when we want to order out and has been for many years. It’s all good, but they do an especially fantastic Singapore Mei Fun (my favorite).
